Closer Watch

Washington Nationals – Wednesday was the day of extra-inning games, as the Nationals pulled out an 11th inning victory at home over the Braves. Closer Drew Storen was called upon to close out the game in the ninth inning, but he gave up a run on two hits in blowing only his second save of the year. Storen struggled some in the inning, needing 18 pitches just to retire the side; however, we should see Storen get back on track in his next save opportunity.

Cincinnati Reds – With incumbent closer Aroldis Chapman on the Paternity List, J.J. Hoover stepped in and picked up his first save of the season, shutting down the Pirates in the ninth inning. Hoover slammed the door on the three Pirates' hitters he faced, striking out the last two in the inning to end the game. Hoover is an intriguing pick-up in leagues if you're scrounging for saves, especially with the rumors floating around that Chapman could be moved in a deadline trade.

Recommended Pickup

Justin Turner, 3B, LAD – Just when you think a player is starting to slow down, what does he do? Hit another home run. Check out Turner's line over his last 10 games: .317/.425/.833, 5 HR, 8 R, and 11 RBI, while only striking out two times. Turner is about as hot as they come in regards to the power, and there's no doubt he'll slow down, but if he's not on your roster in shallower leagues he should be.
