FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Monday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Pitcher

Patrick Corbin, AZ at SD ($9,500) – By my count, there are only two options worth considering on this slate, Corbin and Clayton Kershaw, but Kershaw has yet to show his top form since returning from the DL, so there's no reason to pay over $12,000 for him. Corbin struggled in his last outing against the Padres, but rebounded with a nice effort against the Rockies with 48 points.

Catcher

Bruce Maxwell, OAK at DET ($2,800) – With a short slate and expensive stacks on the horizon, we'll want to save some money at the catcher position. Maxwell hasn't put up great numbers this season, but he comes fairly cheap in a nice matchup. Buck Farmer takes the hill for the Tigers and brings a 6.62 ERA with him. The A's could be a good stack, but unfortunately, the salaries of their high-end guys are as high as anyone in the league.

First Base

Cody Bellinger, LAD at PHI ($4,600) – Now that the Dodgers are out of their collective slump, we can start to target individual players and yes, even consider stacking them. Bellinger is the top play on the Dodgers because of his .392 wOBA against righties this season. The Dodgers face righty Nick Pivetta -- more on that later.

Second Base

Brian Dozier, MN at NYY ($3,900) – Garcia is a non-elite lefty and Dozier has hammered lefties all season. Dozier enters with a .433 wOBA against lefties, which is tops on the Twins and top-20 in the majors.

Shortstop

Corey Seager, LAD at PHI ($3,100) – As mentioned earlier, with Pivetta on the mound for the Phillies, the Dodgers are a stacking option. Fortunately, their salaries as a whole are much lower than they were earlier in the season, so a stack won't kill your cap. Seager's price has dropped as much as anyone on the Dodgers, so he's providing max value right now.

Third Base

Travis Shaw, MIL at PIT ($3,300) – Though the Brewers have been erratic at the plate all season, Shaw has been one guy that's produced at a high level. Shaw enters with an average of 12.1 fantasy points per game this season, which puts him on top of all 3B on this slate, yet he's priced nowhere near the top guys on the board. Shaw enters with a .376 wOBA against righties this season, which is tops on the Brewers.

Outfield

Giancarlo Stanton, MIA vs NYM ($4,000) – Stanton is in a bit of a slump right now and his price is reflective of that as it now stands about $1k less than it was about a week ago. The matchup against Matt Harvey is attractive, as Harvey has allowed 14 runs in 10.1 innings since returning from the DL. Stanton enters with a .391 wOBA against righties this season, which leads the Marlins.

Marcell Ozuna, MIA vs NYM ($3,400) – As you can see, I'm a big fan of stacking the Marlins against Harvey. Ozuna enters with a .384 wOBA against righties this season, which is second on the Marlins and top-30 in the majors.

Andrew McCutchen, PIT vs MIL ($3,600) – McCutchen has hammered left-handed pitching all season and he gets another lefty in Brent Suter, who enters with a 3.66 ERA but has struggled lately. Suter has allowed 15 runs in 21.1 innings since the start of August, and while the Pirates as a whole aren't that intimidating right now, McCutchen surely is. McCutchen enters with a .448 wOBA against lefties this season, which is top-15 in the majors.
