It starts with the Six Nations in February and ends with the Football World Cup in December.

Six Nations
Rugby union, 5 February to 19 March
RotoWire verdict: While a couple other countries are dealing with key injuries, FRANCE seem ready to win Six Nations as the favorite behind Antoine Dupont, who won the Player of the Tournament two years ago. France could've won it each of the last two years and 2022 might be their year if things go to plan, though England and Ireland have other ideas.
F1 Drivers' Championship
Motor racing, 20 March to 20 November
RotoWire verdict: No one was close to competing with LEWIS HAMILTON and Max Verstappen last year and that'll likely be the case again. The question is if Verstappen can replicate the magic he found in 2021. But given Hamilton's dominance in the sport, he makes the most sense to add his eighth title in 10 years.
The Masters
Golf, 7-10 April
RotoWire verdict: Hideki Matsuyama came out of nowhere to win last year's Masters (+3500), but that's usually not the case. Jon Rahm is favored after he hit five-under in the final round last year, but I prefer JORDAN SPIETH, who had a bit of a revival in 2021. Plus, Augusta is maybe his best course, as he's finished in the top three, five of the last eight years. After a couple down performances, Spieth hit 72 or better all four rounds in 2021 and is favored to do that again, which will be enough to have his name near the top of the leaderboard.
World Snooker Championship
Snooker, 16 April to 2 May
RotoWire verdict: Mark Selby won last year's event and he's surprisingly third in the odds, which may be telling. Judd Trump is the favorite, but NEIL ROBERTSON makes a little more sense despite having the fourth-best odds to win it. Robertson coasted in the recent 2022 Masters, an event in which Selby, Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan all failed to make the final.
UEFA Europa League
Football, ends on 18 May
RotoWire verdict: BORUSSIA DORTMUND are the favorite at +600 and they make the most sense with Erling Haaland back from an injury that forced him to miss three matches in Champions League group stages. I think they're built to win this tournament because they're often in knockout stages of Champions League, not Europa League. Barcelona can say the same thing, though they're another story. Porto are worth a look as an underdog, as they lead their league and could put more focus into this competition than other top teams.
English Premier League
Football, ends on 22 May
RotoWire verdict: There's no reason to go against MANCHESTER CITY, who are already well above Liverpool and Chelsea in the table. They beat Chelsea twice and have a deeper squad, especially in the attack, than their challengers. For Man City to drop from the top spot would require a complete collapse, something that seems almost impossible for this team.
UEFA Champions League
Football, ends on 28 May
RotoWire verdict: Manchester City are the favorite for good reason, but they haven't been able to put everything together in this competition despite having one of the better teams. Bayern Munich will also be a popular choice after losing to PSG on away goals last season. That said, I think LIVERPOOL are kind of being forgotten about as an elite team. They beat Bayern Munich on their road to the final three years ago and after a season of injury issues, they're back to being one of the best behind Mohamed Salah.
Wimbledon
Tennis, 27 June to 10 July
RotoWire verdict: I'd consider Roger Federer for one last chance to win Wimbledon, but he's coming back from injury and it's hard to see him winning this tournament after losing in the quarter-finals last year. Assuming he can play in the next three Grand Slams, NOVAK DJOKOVIC will likely want to dominate the sport after being kicked out of Australia. Plus, when he's playing, there doesn't seem to be anyone else on his level right now with Federer and Rafael Nadal past their primes.
Women's European Championship
Football, 6-31 July
RotoWire verdict: Spain have won their last 16 matches and are rightly favored, but they've struggled on the biggest stages, including the last World Cup. England probably have the easiest group, but they've faltered against other elite teams. That leads me to NETHERLANDS, led by Arsenal striker Vivianne Miedema, who took over last year's Olympics with 10 goals. The competition at the top is tight and elite goalscorers are never a bad thing to bet on.
The Open
Golf, 14-17 July
RotoWire verdict: Tiger Woods would be a sneaky bet since he already has two wins at St. Andrews, but his injury situation remains murky. I kind of like Jordan Spieth in this situation again because he's already had success on this course, finishing one back of the winner in 2015. However, based off prior results, LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN is my pick after winning in 2010 and losing in a playoff in 2015. More important is that he's coming off a solid 2021 in which he battled near the top in The Open, U.S. Open and PGA Championship.
T20 World Cup
Cricket, 16 October to 13 November
RotoWire verdict: India are favored to win this year's T20 World Cup, but they didn't make it out of group stages last year, which shows the wide range of outcomes that can happen. Australia won last year and are playing at home, but winning back-to-back World Cups is a tough task. PAKISTAN are an intriguing team that lost to Australia last year and have the talent to snag another World Cup title.
FIFA World Cup
Football, 21 November to 18 December
RotoWire verdict: It's going to be weird to have a World Cup in December and it doesn't help that injuries will undoubtedly come up in the first half of the league season, leading to more uncertainty for this tournament. England already struggle on big stages and with most of their players in the Premier League, they're not set up to win this one. France and Brazil are favored, but both can be beaten and the health of N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba will be most important for the former. It feels wrong to pick SPAIN since they still don't have a top striker to turn to, yet they have everything else. They were just as good as Italy in last year's Euros and should benefit from most of their expected squad not playing in the gruelling Premier League.
