2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Cook was one of the best ADP values at running back each of the last two years, and while the price might be higher than ever going into 2026, there is no obvious reason why Cook should fall off anytime soon. The formula between Cook, Josh Allen and Buffalo's elite offensive line is one that OC-turned-HC Joe Brady perfected in 2025, when Cook averaged 5.2 YPC over 309 carries -- 102 more totes than his previous career high. Cook's workload has become unexpectedly heavy, and there's maybe some long-term cause for concern given how thin he is at 5-foot-11, 190. On the other hand, Cook doesn't take many direct hits and has an unprecedented amount of cover due to Allen and the excellent offensive line. As long as Allen is healthy, the Bills will get into scoring range regularly, and as long as the Buffalo offensive line remains dominant, there will be ample space for Cook to exploit. Allen's presence also means Cook will never get schemed against the way a running back normally would with production like his. Read Past Outlooks

Not present for start of OTAs
Cook was not present for the start of OTAs on Tuesday, Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While OTAs are quote unquote "voluntary," it's a notable absence, as the rest of Buffalo's star players and veteran leaders were in attendance for new coach Joe Brady's first open practice session. There's been no reason given for Cook's absence, and he just signed a new four-year, $46 million contract last summer after "holding in" at training camp. Cook, however, has already fallen behind the top of the running back market after De'Von Achane, Kenneth Walker, Breece Hall and Travis Etienne all received bigger deals this offseason. It's possible Cook is looking at that and pushing for more money after leading the league in rushing with 1,621 yards and 12 touchdowns on a career-high 309 carries last regular season. With Cook idle to begin OTAs, Frank Gore and Ray Davis have seen more reps with the first-team offense, according to Parrino.

The Bills unleashed a new-look rushing attack in 2024, with offensive coordinator Joe Brady tapping into a dominant ground game that was largely dormant in prior years. The player reaping the greatest benefits was Cook, who went from a two-touchdown runner in 2023 to 16 touchdowns last year, even while taking 30 fewer carries. After just five carries inside the 5-yard line in his first 326 NFL rush attempts, Cook got 15 chances inside the 5 among his 207 carries last year. These developments are encouraging for Cook, yet his TD rate is plainly marked for regression in 2025. He mentioned wanting to take on more of the workload during contract negotiations this spring, but the Bills may want to protect their investment -- a four-year, $48 million extension signed in August -- and also seem to trust backups Ty Johnson and Ray Davis. Good as Cook is, he's still a smaller RB (5-foot-11, 190) who is not built for power functions, while Davis is dense (5-9, 220) and powerful. On the other hand, Cook doesn't necessarily need huge workloads to put up strong fantasy numbers when his per-touch efficiency ranks near the top of the league while playing in an elite offense.

Not at voluntary OTAs
Cook hasn't been present at voluntary OTAs, per Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com.
ANALYSIS
Attendance is voluntary at this stage of the offseason, but Buffalo's other top players have been present at OTAs. Cook sat out some team activities during the previous offseason while negotiating a four-year, $46 million contract. It's possible that he's unhappy with that deal after just one year, as De'Von Achane, Kenneth Walker, Breece Hall and Travis Etienne all received bigger deals this offseason to push Cook down the list of the league's highest-paid running backs.
