Mondogoal Fantasy Soccer: Saturday EPL Tip Sheet

Mondogoal Fantasy Soccer: Saturday EPL Tip Sheet

This article is part of our Mondogoal Fantasy Soccer series.

Gameweek 15 of the Premier League season brings with it a five-match main slate Saturday that is rich in potential from a fantasy perspective. Arsenal, Leicester and Manchester City all played Champions League matches in the midweek, and with the Premier League's first midweek slate next Tuesday, several other clubs could consider rotating their squads with the busiest period of the season approaching. Until further notice, these are some especially appealing options for Saturday:

GOALKEEPER

Wayne Hennessey, CRY at HUL (£6.0m): Hennessey racked up 10.8 fantasy points last week with a clean sheet against Southampton and will now face a Hull side that have netted just two goals over their last four matches in all competitions. His price ranks 20th among keepers, and he is worth consideration because of the favorable matchup.

Petr Cech, ARS v. STK (£7.4m): Cech hasn't tasted defeat since the opening match of the season and has allowed just five goals in his last six matches. The surging Gunners will host low-scoring Stoke on Saturday and Cech will remain a top option to produce a stable return.

DEFENDER

Nathan Ake, BOU at BUR (£7.5m): Ake has become a regular for the Cherries and has two goals in the last three games en route to an average of 9.41 fantasy points per start during that span. He should remain in the lineup against 15th-place Burnley and will offer defensive potential in addition to his knack for getting on the scoresheet.

Bacary Sagna, MCI at LEI (£8.1): Sagna has played well since returning from injury, averaging 6.78 fantasy points per game in his three starts. He appears to have reprised his starting spot and should have plenty of opportunities to rack up defensive stats against a Leicester side that surprisingly rank in the bottom half of the league in goals scored this season.

Laurent Koscielny, ARS v. STK (£8.8m): Koscielny's 7.76 fantasy points per game rank first among defenders for Saturday's slate, and he will enjoy a home matchup against an lesser Stoke side. His strong play has been key to the performance of the back line and the Gunners actually haven't lost a match that he has played in this season. Koscielny's modest price is further reason for his consideration in this matchup.

MIDFIELDER

Leroy Fer, SWA vs SUN (£7.6m): Fer has averaged 10.1 fantasy points per game over his last three and has already tied his career-high in goals with six. The Swans will host a Sunderland side that haven't been competitive on the road this season, presenting the Dutchman with the opportunity to continue his productive campaign.

Wilfried Zaha, CRY at HUL (£8.8m): Zaha snapped a streak of factoring into a goal for five consecutive matches (one goal and four assists) last week against Southampton, but he will have an excellent chance to get back on the scoresheet this week against a Hull side that have allowed multiple goals on six occasions this season and currently rank 19th in the Premier League in that category.

Mesut Ozil, ARS v. STK (£13.1m): Ozil has been instrumental in the Gunners' resurgence over the last two weeks and has a goal to go along with two assists as his side have outscored opponents nine to three during that span. With a favorable matchup against Stoke on tap for Saturday and his side expected to be on the front foot, Ozil should be front and center as a top playmaker.

FORWARD

Callum Wilson, BOU at BUR (£7.0m): Wilson has averaged 11.55 fantasy points per game over his last two, thanks to goals against Arsenal and Liverpool. His matchup with struggling Burnley should present him with a good opportunity to continue his recent success, and his affordable price makes him something of a value play with an abundance of high-priced strikers available.

Jermain Defoe, SUN at SWA (£10.7m): Defoe is carrying the load once again for the Black Cats, with eight goals and two assists accounting for a whopping 71 percent of the team's attacking production this season. He is one of the most heavily relied upon strikers in the league and should have plenty of opportunities to test Swansea's last-ranked defensive unit Saturday.

Alexis Sanchez, ARS v. STK (£12.9m): Alexis has three goals and two assists over his last three matches for an average of 20.73 fantasy points per game. He and the other Gunners attackers are hitting on all cylinders at the moment and have outscored their opponents by nine since Nov. 27. Alexis' recent surge has him tied atop the Premier League in goals scored, and he will look to add to his totals against the Potters.
