Texans vs Steelers Prediction

The Texans finished the year as the league's second-best defense in both points allowed and EPA per play. The Steelers have played five games against teams that finished with a top-10 defense in EPA per play. They went 2-3, averaging 16.0 PPG. Neither of their wins were particularly encouraging. Pittsburgh beat the 5-12 Browns in Week 4 and the Carson Wentz-led Minnesota Vikings the following week. Pittsburgh's offense has needed near-perfect circumstances to function this season. The circumstances will be far from perfect on Monday night.

The Steelers have only scored more than 26 points eight times this season, six of which came against a bottom-12 defense in EPA per play. The two exceptions were a 29-point performance against a Lions' defense that had been decimated by injuries at that point, and a 27-point showing against Indianapolis, when the defense generated five turnovers.

Pittsburgh's dominant front matches up nicely against a shaky Texans' offensive line. That advantage isn't nearly enough to bridge the gap between the Pittsburgh's offense and Houston's defense. I'll take C.J. Stroud and the Texans to advance past the Wild Card Round for the third year in a row.
