NFL Picks: Panthers, Colts, Eagles, Jaguars, Seahawks and Rams - With Video

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

Stopa won the week easily at 11-5, while DDD and I were the only other writers with winning records at 9-7. It troubles me that we had five consensus picks last week and six for this slate. Rarely does anything useful and creative ever come out of everyone agreeing. Moreover, three of us made the Seahawks our best bets.

Consensus Picks

This week we have six consensus picks: the Panthers, Colts, Eagles, Jaguars, Seahawks and Rams. Last week we went 2-3, and last year we were 30-24-2 on consensus picks.

EricksonJust as last week was all about not overreacting to the preseason, this week is all about not overreacting to Week 1. There's a handful of home dogs that shouldn't be as much as they are thanks to last week's results.
PianowskiMost of these picks were quick and decisive for me, but there's nothing predictive about that fact.
LissIt disturbs me that we had five consensus picks last week and six this week. While we make the picks independently, it seems we're all thinking the same thing in too many cases, something that's not necessarily good in the long run. I especially like the Seahawks, 49ers and Bears. I also think the Jaguars line seems excessive. The Jets pick worries me.
StopaThe Bears and Packers have been pretty even over the past few years, so I'll gladly take the points there. That's closer to a 50/50 game than you think, so a TD is a lot... Seattle has a pronounced home field advantage, so I like buying them low and selling Dallas high. I'll be surprised if somebody else doesn't make that a "best bet." Nine points is a lot on the road (the equivalent of 15 at home) for the Texans to lay against a Jaguars team that may not be a total doormat... I'm not ready to take the Redskins as a road favorite after one good game... The Bucs are being treated as the patsy we saw in 2011, but after Week 1, we don't know that to be the case... I'll fade the hype coming out of Denver and Baltimore, both of whom should fall back to earth on the road.
Del DonBacking a whopping 14 dogs this week...I expect the Colts to be much improved this year, so I was happy to get points at home against a Vikings team I wouldn't consider noticeably superior.
