Which NCAA MBB Teams Have Added The Most Fans Online?
Over the past seven days, no men's college basketball team had the type of growth online that the 12-1
BYU Cougars did. The Big 12 members gained 2.861% more followers during that timeframe.
Coach Mike Young's team did all even though BYU played zero games between Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 (it's a light schedule all around with the holidays). The team's final contest before the start of conference play was a 109-81 rout of eastern Washington in Provo on Dec. 22.
Overall, the 12-1 Cougars, who have +700 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to win the Big 12 as of Dec. 31, finished ahead of Big Ten surprise story Nebraska, which gained 1.893% more followers online this week.
The
Cornhuskers (13-0) capped a perfect 11-game nonconference slate by beating New Hampshire (86-55) on Tuesday, and they're 2-0 in Big Ten play.
At No. 3 this week are the UMass Minutemen, who gained 1.814% more followers this week. That was despite an 80-74 loss at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, which dropped the club to 0-2 in MAC play.
Rounding out this week's top five online were the No. 23 Georgia Bulldogs (+1.713%) and 12-2 Seton Hall (+1.659%).
UGA, a +2800 choice to win the SEC for customers using the Caesars promo code, capped non-conference play with wins over West Georgia (103-74) and Long Island (89-74), while the Pirates started Big East play with wins over Providence (72-67) and Marquette (79-73), with a 64-56 home loss to Villanova in between.
Who Else Made the List?
Over the past week, other movers and shakers online include the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (+1.658%), Wichita State Shockers (+1.603%), Michigan Wolverines (+1.361%), North Texas Mean Green (+1.181%) and Vanderbilt Commodores (+1.068%).
Of those five, Wichita State gained the most ground, jumping 77 spots to No. 7. The
Shockers have +1000 odds to win the American Conference at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Michigan (+34 spots), and Vanderbilt (+10) were next in line as the college basketball calendar flips into the new year and the heart of conference play.
Outside of the top 10 but still making the list this week were No. 11 East Carolina (+0.977%), New Mexico (+0.962%), Saint Louis (+0.913%), Alabama (+0.850%) and Iowa State (+0.833%).
Successful teams on social media come in all shapes and sizes across the upper echelon of men's college basketball. And real money college basketball betting promos are always here at RotoWire.com all season.
