Jakub Dobes

Jakub Dobes

25-Year-Old GoalieG
Montreal Canadiens
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Dobes may not be the long-term answer in Montreal's crease, but he played well in 2025-26. He went 29-10-4 with a 2.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 43 regular-season outings. He also backstopped the team for the majority of its playoff run. Dobes will likely have to compete with prospect Jacob Fowler in the long run, though Sam Montembeault is still a factor heading into 2026-27, barring a trade. With just two seasons of NHL experience, it's tough to tell what to expect from Dobes. If Montreal continues to improve, Dobes' numbers should follow. However, it's tough to see him playing in more than 50 games. Expect him to push for 30 wins with a save percentage north of .900, which puts him firmly into the No. 2 range even if he ends up in a timeshare. Read Past Outlooks

Secures three-year contract
GMontreal Canadiens
July 2, 2026
Dobes signed a three-year, approximately $16 million contract with Montreal on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Dobes made 43 regular-season appearances for the club last year in which he posted a 29-10-4 record, 2.78 GAA and .901 save percentage. The 25-year-old backstop figures to head into the 2026-27 campaign as the No. 1 option, but he will likely face challenges from Jacob Fowler for starts.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Dobes made the most of his first taste of NHL action, earning a 7-4-3 record with a 2.74 GAA and a .909 save percentage in 16 games with the Canadiens. He surpassed Cayden Primeau for the backup role early in 2024-25. Dobes also posted a .881 save percentage over three playoff games. Dobes isn't going to push Sam Montembeault out of the starting role any time soon, and Primeau will likely be working hard in training camp to regain the backup job. For fantasy, Dobes is a fine option in deep formats behind a Canadiens team that's on the rise, but he's still largely inexperienced entering his age-24 season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Starting for second straight night?
GMontreal Canadiens
March 11, 2026
Dobes is resting instead of participating in the morning skate, which might be an indication that he'll start on the road against Ottawa on Wednesday, per Claire Hanna of TSN.
ANALYSIS
Dobes stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 3-1 win over Toronto on Tuesday, and he could be playing for the second consecutive day. Still, that might be the plan for Montreal, which is battling to secure a favorable playoff spot. The Canadiens called up Jacob Fowler from AHL Laval on Wednesday, and he attended the optional morning skate with fellow netminder Sam Montembeault. Ottawa has won its past three games, improving to 32-22-9 on the season.
