After a wild 14-game slate Saturday, the NBA quiets down with five games on the schedule Sunday. Four of them will make up the main evening slate on Yahoo, so we don't exactly have a ton of options to choose from. With that being said, here are some players to target for your entry, as well as a few to avoid.
GUARDS
James Harden, HOU at NO ($59): A perfect storm is brewing for Harden. This is already a great matchup with the Pelicans tied for the third-most points allowed per game in the league. To further tilt the scales in Harden's favor, Russell Westbrook will sit out the second game of their back-to-back set. If there was ever a night to pay up to get Harden into your entry, this is it.
Terry Rozier, CHA at MEM ($27): Despite the Hornets losing four straight, Rozier scored at least 35.3 Yahoo points in three of those contests. He's locked into heavy minutes and boasts a career-high 24.8 percent usage rate, which leaves him with a relatively high floor. Add in a matchup against a Grizzlies' team that has played at the sixth-fastest pace and Rozier could be primed for another juicy stat line.
Guard to Avoid
Buddy Hield, SAC at DEN ($26): Things are a mess right now for the Kings. There have been reports that multiple players want to be traded and they are dealing with injuries once again to De'Aaron Fox (back) and Marvin Bagley III (foot). This would be a great time for Hield to step up his production, but he has scored 27.6 Yahoo points or fewer in five of his last six games. Facing a Nuggets' side that has allowed the fewest points per game isn't exactly an ideal matchup to break out of his funk.
FORWARDS
Brandon Ingram, NO vs. HOU ($39): As far as safer options go, Ingram is right up there when it comes to forwards. He's become the offensive leader for the Pelicans, which has enabled him to score at least 43.7 Yahoo points in four of his last five games. He's also scored at least 34.5 Yahoo points in 10 straight contests. With both of these teams ranked inside the top-eight in pace of play, there should be plenty of opportunities for Ingram to stuff the stat sheet.
Miles Bridges, CHA at MEM ($14): Bridges hasn't been a consistent source for production, which is probably why he comes in this cheap. He recently endured a stretch where he scored 15.3 Yahoo points or fewer in three straight games. However, he has rebounded to score at least 24.2 in each of his last three contests. With the Grizzlies playing at such a fast pace and the limited options that come with a four-game slate, Bridges is at least worth considering.
Forward to Avoid
Harrison Barnes, SAC at DEN ($17): This represents a tough matchup for Barnes, who provides most of his production in the scoring column. He's only averaging 2.2 assists a night and provides very little on the defensive end, especially in terms of blocks. Bridges promises a much more favorable matchup and is three dollars cheaper, so he might be the better option if you're looking to save money at forward.
CENTERS
Jonas Valanciunas, MEM vs. CHA ($24): The Hornets are not a good defensive team up front, which has resulted in them allowing the second-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers. The last time these two teams met, Valanciunas took advantage of their shortcomings by scoring 36.6 Yahoo points across just 23 minutes. He's also scored at least 30 Yahoo points in five of his last six contests, making him an enticing option at this reasonable price.
Bismack Biyombo, CHA at MEM ($12): After beginning the season as part of the second unit, Biyombo has emerged as the starting center for the Hornets. While his numbers still aren't eye-popping, he has notched at least 24.4 Yahoo points in five of his last seven games. With not many viable cheap centers to consider, Biyombo stands out someone to target if you need to save money at the position.
Center to Avoid
Jaxson Hayes, NO vs. HOU ($11): The return of Derrick Favors has pushed Hayes back into a limited role. He's logged 21 minutes or fewer in five straight games, something that likely won't change moving forward - as long as Favors can stay healthy. While Hayes checks in at close to the minimum price, he's not a cheap center to take a chance on.
