FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard
D.J. Augustin, $3,500
- This is a great play if you're looking to load up on studs and need some minimum-priced punt plays. The floor is low here as Augustin put out a three-point dud last game out. However, over the previous three games he had 17.6, 21.6 and 20 fantasy points showing his upside. His minutes continue to loom around 20 and expecting 4X his price here seems reasonable.

Derrick Rose, $7,200 - Everyone was all over Rose Wednesday and it was heartbreak when it was announced right after roster lock he was out. He's listed as questionable tonight but if he's able to go he makes for a great play. His user rate is always higher with Jimmy Butler out of the lineup and he had at least 34.6 fantasy point for three straight before Wednesday's tardiness. Recency bias will have owners off of him making him a good play for both cash games and GPPs.

Shooting Guard
Kyle Korver, $3,900
- Like Augustin, Korver had been pulling his weight and more before last game when he had a dud of 4.7 fantasy points. Before that debacle though he had games of 17.7, 24.2, 25.3, 28.6, and 24.2 fantasy points. Those numbers suggest a floor of 4X his price and as much as 7X considering his current cost. It helps that the Bulls don't have Jimmy Butler defending the shooting guard position and Korver has played at least 30 minutes in each his last six contests.

Jordan Clarkson, $6,200 - Clarkson's price is extremely underpriced given his recent production and should be north of $7,500 at this point. He's scored 37.7, 24.1, 37.8, 34.6 and 39.7 fantasy points over his last five games and has shown improvement in the peripheral categories. For the month of February, Clarkson has averaged 4.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game adding to his fantasy value. More importantly he's averaging 34.6 minutes per game over the month and is becoming the face of the future for the Lakers.

Small Forward
Mike Dunleavy, $3,700
- Dunleavy has seen his minutes steadily rise in each of his last five games and was able to play 28 in a victory Wednesday night. He's had 21.2 and 22.3 fantasy points over his last two games showing he's gotten back in the flow of the offense. The expected return of Derrick Rose to the offense could mean a shot or two less for Dunleavy but it'll also mean more open looks for him as well. He's the best punt play at the position considering his price; just realize the floor here is pretty low as well.

Robert Covington, $4,700 - The rotation for the 76ers is always in flux and the production for Covington is volatile. On the season Covington's opponent, the Washington Wizards, are giving up the third-most fantasy point to opposing small forward which bodes well for him. Like almost everyone else on this list Covington had at least 17.9 fantasy points in each of his last six games before a dud last time out again suggesting that was an anomaly. The price has dropped close to the lowest it's been this season and the upside here is too good to pass up.

Power Forward
JaMychal Green, $4,200
- The Marc Gasol injury has given a fantasy bump to his teammates and maybe Green is the biggest beneficiary. He's moved into the starting lineup and has logged at least 20 minutes in each of the last four games. Green has at least 21 fantasy points in three of those four contests and is coming off a 24. 8 fantasy point game against the same team he faces tonight, the Lakers. Over the last 10 games the Lakers are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to opposing power forwards.

Aaron Gordon, $6,200 - This is wearing the Captain Obvious hat but in cash games there's no reason to wander away from Gordon at this point. Even in a tough matchup last night against Draymond Green and he was able to put up at least 30 fantasy points for the seventh straight game. He's been a walking double-double and his presence in the starting lineup has seemed to help teammate Nikola Vucevic as well. This pick may not be as obvious as it seems: Kevin Love ($7,200) is underpriced, Zach Randolph ($6,500) has a juicy matchup with the Lakers, Taj Gibson ($5,300) is coming off a big game, Kristaps Porzingis ($6,300) has a ton of upside and Tristan Thompson ($4,900) had a recent run of 34.3, 38 and 38.6 fantasy points. Still, Gordon has been the steady as any of them and the price is still at a moderate level.

Center
Joffrey Lauvergne, $3,600
- The big man rotation for the Nuggets is practically impossible to predict. It almost seems as if playing Jusuf Nurkic (who hasn't played in two straight) is as safe of a play as Lauvergne. That being said, common sense says Lauvergne is the better value play considering he's been the clear backup to Nikola Jokic. Lauvergne has played at least 21 minutes in four of his last five games and averaged just under 20 fantasy points over those four. Dallas does not have an imposing front court and playing with the second team means Lauvergne avoids Zaza Pachulia, their best low-post defender.
