2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stecher put up three goals, seven points, 66 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 66 regular-season outings last season. His average ice time (13:52) was the lowest mark of his nine-year NHL career, and he could be in and out of the lineup in 2025-26. The 31-year-old rearguard has only reached the 10-point mark once in the last four years, and he doesn’t contribute enough in other areas to necessitate a roster spot from fantasy managers. Quiet on offense
Stecher was held off the scoresheet for an eighth straight game in Saturday's 7-6 overtime loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Stecher's playing time should stabilize while Oliver Ekman-Larsson (lower body) is out. The part-time role likely isn't helping Stecher get his offense on track. The 31-year-old blueliner has earned 13 points over 54 outings this season, but only three of those points have come in his last 18 games. He's added 58 shots on net, 75 blocked shots, 25 hits and a minus-7 rating while mainly working in a bottom-four role.

Stecher's decision to re-sign with Edmonton on a one-year, $1.575 million deal seems a little strange when you consider his path to the lineup is muddy at best - especially with the team also going out and adding another depth blueliner in Josh Brown. In his seven regular-season outings for the Oilers, Stecher was limited to two assists, six shots on net and 16 hits while averaging a mere 16:00 of ice time. Assuming he has recovered from offseason ankle surgery, Stetcher projects as a healthy scratch more often than not, making him a relative non-factor in fantasy contests.
