Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals Best Bets
After an off day in the series Tuesday, the Twins and Royals reignite the rivalry Wednesday following KC's 3-1 victory in the series opener Monday. Ryan takes the mound for Minnesota after a stellar showing to open the season Thursday against the Orioles. He fired 5.1 scoreless, one-hit innings while striking out seven. The performance was an extension of yet another strong season for Ryan in 2025, when he went 13-10 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 10.2 K/9 across 171 innings.
Ryan has a fairly successful history against current Royals hitters, as he's held them to a collective .191 average and .582 OPS across 118 career encounters. Even Kansas City's three most potent bats – Bobby Witt, Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez – have had what could be termed relatively limited success against Ryan, going a combined 14-for-66 (.212 average) with five doubles, two homers, seven RBI and five walks against him in 71 total plate appearances.
The Royals have opened the season with a .207 average and .270 wOBA against right-handed pitching in 95 plate appearances. KC is also averaging an AL-low 2.25 runs per game in the early going, so banking on them doing their part in a relatively low-scoring first half of the game seems prudent.
The same could be true on the other side of the matchup, as Cameron is also a quality arm that is coming off an impressive rookie 2025 campaign. The southpaw produced a 9-7 record, 2.99 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 138.1 innings across 24 starts, and he was especially impressive at home with a 5-3 mark, 2.93 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 in 67.2 frames at Kauffmann Stadium.
Moreover, he was excellent against the Twins in two road starts, surrendering one earned run across 12.1 innings while posting a 12:3 K:BB. Current Minnesota batters that faced him in that pair of outings mustered just a .207/.233/.241 slash line with one extra-base hit across 30 plate appearances.
Each team's 2025 metrics in the first five innings of games in the respective home/road splits that apply also point toward a lower-scoring first few frames – the Twins averaged an AL-low 2.0 runs in the first five on the road, while the Royals posted an AL-low 2.1 per home game in that split.
As far as our player prop is concerned, given we're expecting Ryan to hold his own early, banking on him keeping hits at four or less also dovetails well as a player prop in conjunction with our SGP.
