PITCHER
Chris Sale, BOS at CHW ($13,400): In his first return to Guaranteed Rate Field, the narrative alone is intriguing enough to target Sale. His 1.81 FIP, 12.5 K/9 and 36.7 strikeout percentage only sweeten the deal. However, the White Sox sport a league-best .362 wOBA against southpaws, so it won't be a cakewalk. Still, the reward outweighs the risk, and especially with Sale looking to establish himself as a big-game pitcher for his new club.
Eddie Butler, CHC at SDP ($5,400): This salary opens significant spending room to stack the rest of your lineup, and Butler has been serviceable for the Cubs. Chicago has lost four consecutive games, and the Padres enter with second-worst wOBA (.293) against right-handed hurlers in the league. This will be Butler's fourth start, so he should also be stretched out to pitch deeper into the game. Additionally, considering San Diego's 25.2 strikeout percentage against righties, there is added punchout potential for Butler.
CATCHER
Cameron Rupp, PHI at MIA ($3,200): Dating back to last season, opposing pitcher Justin Nicolino has allowed a .482 slugging percentage and .367 wOBA to right-handed batters including .600 and .430 marks this year. Rupp checks out as a high-end source of cap relief and boasts an impressive 1.017 OPS, .303 ISO and .424 wOBA against southpaws dating back to 2016.
FIRST BASE
Tommy Joseph, PHI at MIA ($4,000): The first baseman will probably be overlooked Tuesday, but his matchup against Justin Nicolino is ripe, and Joesph has posted solid numbers in May. He's registered 13 extra-base hits with 17 RBI, 14 runs and a 1.016 OPS and also boasts a career .372 wOBA against lefties.
SECOND BASE
Ian Happ, CHC at SDP ($4,200): The rookie is mired in a 2-for-22 slump after exploding out of the gate when first recalled. Fellow rookie Dinelson Lamet allowed a 37.5 hard-hit percentage to left-handed batters during his debut start and should have difficulty navigating Chicago's deep lineup. Taking a flier on a bounce-back outing from Happ is in playing considering the significant upside he's flashed at the highest level.
THIRD BASE
Miguel Sano, MIN vs. HOU ($4,400): The slugger didn't start consecutive games to receive a breather and then homered in his return to the lineup Monday. He grabs an excellent matchup against a reeling Mike Fiers on Tuesday, too. Fiers has allowed a .496 wOBA and 42.2 hard-hit percentage to right-handed hitters this season, and Sano boasts a career .367 wOBA against righty arms.
SHORTSTOP
Trevor Story, COL vs. SEA ($4,500): The Coors Field boost helps Story's already strong case against southpaws. The shortstop has posted a .348 ISO and .411 wOBA against lefties during his career and doesn't carry a prohibitive salary. It's worth highlighting the unfavorable on-paper matchup, as Ariel Miranda has held right-handed hitters to a measly .307 wOBA over the past two seasons. However, even elite hurlers have struggled in Denver over the years.
OUTFIELD
J.D. Martinez, DET at KC ($5,200):Eric Skoglund owns a 4.53 ERA through eight starts with Triple-A Omaha, so this projects as a cushy matchup for Martinez. The outfielder has teed off on southpaws to the tune of a .387 wOBA since 2015, and Martinez's placement in the heart of the Detroit lineup helps his upside to score and drive in runs.
Nelson Cruz, SEA at COL ($5,100): While Tyler Anderson sports a 2.55 ERA with just seven runs allowed through his past four outings (24.2 innings), it's still difficult to look past Cruz. The outfielder has posted a 1.035 OPS, .325 ISO and .428 wOBA against lefties over the past three season, and Cruz's price is reasonable considering the favorable hitting environment at Coors Field.
Aaron Hicks, NYY at BAL ($4,400): The outfielder is rounding into a solid cross-category fantasy contributor, which provides a high-floor, high-ceiling combo. Hicks owns a 1.006 OPS and .428 wOBA against right-handed hurlers this season, and opposing starter Chris Tillman has surrendered 10 runs through his past three starts for a 5.87 ERA.
