USA Figure Skating Roster
The U.S. National Championships were held over the weekend in St. Louis, with spots being settled for the 16-person squad headed for Italy. Amber Glenn (above), 26, won her third consecutive national title in St. Louis while Ilia Malinin, who turned 21 in December, earned his fourth men's U.S. crown in a row. They are the headliners here. The entire roster's average age is 25.47 years, according to US Figure Skating's roster, as of Jan. 14. The oldest member of the squad is ice dancer Evan Bates, who turns 37 on Feb. 23, a few days after Olympic figure skating competition ends. The youngest is women's singles competitor Isabeau Levito, 18. At DraftKings Sportsbook, Team USA as a whole has +500 odds to win the most gold medals at these Games, third on the operator's board.
Men's USA Olympic Hockey Roster
Only two players return from the squad that finished fifth at the 2022 Beijing Games: Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson and Minnesota Wild D Brock Faber. This is the first time NHL players have competed in the Olympics since 2014. Faber, 23, is the youngest player on this year's USA men's roster. The oldest is Colorado Avalanche forward Brock Nelson, 34. Women's USA Olympic Hockey Roster
As opposed to the men, the U.S. women are loaded with Olympic experience – 11 returning players in all. Knight is the oldest woman on the Team USA hockey roster at 36, but several players are in their early 20s including F Joy Dunne, the youngest at 20. USA Olympic Speedskating Roster
Erin Jackson is the lone returning gold medalist for Team USA. The 33-year-old native of Ocala, Florida, captured the women's 500 meters in Beijing, becoming the first Black woman to win an individual gold medal at the Winter Games. She is headed for her third Olympics and Brittany Bowe, a two-time bronze medalist and the oldest speedskater on the roster at 37, has qualified for her fourth. The Team USA Speedskating site has two 21-year-olds listed – both short-track specialists. They're Eunice Lee and Kamryn Lute, who are both first-time Olympians.
Other Team USA Winter Olympics Notables
The oldest average age on our list is the USA Curling team, at 29.5 years. Rich Ruohonen, 54, gives hope to middle-aged sports fans everywhere just by being on the roster. According to the official Team USA site, if he competes in Milan, Ruohonen will be the oldest American athlete ever at the Winter Olympics. … The luge team is very young, averaging 26.29 years. All 11 American sliders headed to Italy are under 30 except Emily Fischnaller, 32. The men's doubles team of Marcus Mueller, 20, and Ansel Haugsjaa, 21, make up the youngest members. … Almost as young, at 26.6 years on average, is the USA freestyle skiing team. Alex Hall, 27, the defending Olympic champion in men's slopestyle, has qualified for the Milan Games.
