2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
All things considered, Chubb was fairly productive in 2025. Signed by the Texans over the summer just to provide some backfield depth, the oft-injured veteran got thrust into a much larger role when Joe Mixon suffered a foot injury that wound up costing him the entire campaign. Chubb saw significant volume in the first half, getting double-digit carries in six of Houston's first eight games while compiling 355 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but his usage shrank down the stretch as the Texans leaned on younger options like Woody Marks. Chubb finished the season with a respectable 4.1 yards per carry and an above-average 2.1 yards per carry after contact, although those numbers paled in comparison to his Cleveland heyday. A free agent once again, Chubb is no longer capable of being a 300-carry workhorse, but the 30-year-old might have something to offer a backfield looking for a depth piece who can take snaps on all three downs. Free agency awaits
Chubb had four carries for 14 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 28-16 playoff loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
Chubb finished up his first season in Houston with 122 carries for 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns over 15 regular-season games. He added 13 catches on 20 targets for 67 yards. Chubb was meant to back up Joe Mixon (foot) but opened the season atop the depth chart before Woody Marks eventually pushed him aside for the lead role. Chubb averaged just 4.4 carries per game over the final seven weeks of the regular season, and the 31-year-old enters the offseason as an unrestricted free agent.

Chubb made it back from ACL, MCL and meniscus tears in September of 2023, playing eight games and 225 snaps beginning in Week 7 of last season. He was nowhere near his usual self, however, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry for the Browns. Chubb's comeback ended in Week 15 due to a broken foot, the recovery from which will be an ongoing concern in a long list of durability woes. The season-ending 2023 injury was preceded in 2015 by MCL, PCL and LCL tears in the same left knee, so Chubb's otherwise freakish athleticism and work ethic have already been tested as much as possible. Now 29, he signed a one-year contract in June with Houston, where Joe Mixon's foot injury opened up a chance to compete with Dameon Pierce for the Week 1 starting job. Chubb is the favorite to start Week 1 after Pierce missed most of training camp, but Woody Marks and/or Dare Ogunbowale could also have role, particularly in passing situations.

Hoping to extend career
Matt Bowen of ESPN suggests that Chubb is a good fit with the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Chubb played 15 regular-season games with the Texans in 2025, but he earned only 122 carries and was stuck behind rookie Woody Marks on the depth chart. While Chub showed minimal explosion, as only three of his carries went for at least 20 yards, he did average 4.1 yards per carry. The Cowboys lack depth behind Javonte Williams, who has a lengthy history of injuries, so Chubb could immediately compete with Malik Davis and Jaydon Blue for a backup role if he lands in Dallas.
