Reduced competition for targets
Odunze and Luther Burden are Chicago's unquestioned top WRs after the team traded DJ Moore to Buffalo, Patrick Finley of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Moore might've only been the No. 3 receiver anyway if he'd returned to Chicago after plummeting to a 16.0 percent target rate in 2025 while easily leading the team in routes run (512). The Bears also lost WR Oladime Zaccheaus (305 routes), who is signing with Atlanta. There's plenty of time to add competition behind Odunze and Burden, but it does seem clear that those two and TE Colston Loveland will lead the team in targets in 2026 if they stay relatively healthy. Odunze said in January that he didn't anticipate needing surgery for the foot injury that cost him five games at the end of the regular season (he returned for two postseason games, posting 2-44-0 receiving lines in both). He failed to maintain a hot start in 2025, his second pro season, but there were still some promising signs overall, including a 24.4 percent target rate and six TDs in 12 regular-season games. Odunze, Burden and Loveland are all popular fantasy breakout candidates for 2026.

It's hard to find a weakness in Odunze's prospect profile, especially after he confirmed his athleticism at the combine with a 4.45 40-yard dash at 6-3, 212. He was one of the few wideouts to go through nearly every test, and each of his scores landed above the 60th percentile among WRs the past two decades, including a 4.03-second short shuttle (93rd percentile). Amari Cooper, Chris Godwin and Ja'Marr Chase are the only 200-plus-pound WRs that have posted better times than Odunze in both the 40-yard dash and short shuttle. The Washington product also checks boxes for age (22 in June) and production (1,145 receiving yards as a junior and an FCS-leading 1,640 as a senior). The only real ding against him is that Odunze had only 483 receiving yards in 13 games his first two seasons before coach Kalen DeBoer and QB Michael Penix lifted the Huskies to national prominence. And even that feels like nitpicking, considering Odunze caught six passes in four games as an 18-year-old freshman during a pandemic-shortened season. The bust risk is low long term, but he does have some short-term concerns in Chicago in the form of target/snap competition from veteran WRs DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. The Bears also have a pair of capable pass catchers at tight end (Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett), making it hard for any one player to see a dominant share of targets -- especially a rookie.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Team trades fellow starting WR
Odunze could see an influx in targets in 2026, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that the Bears agreed to trade DJ Moore to Buffalo on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Odunze led the Bears with 90 targets in the 2025 regular season and turned them into 661 receiving yards, which was 21 receiving yards fewer than Moore produced on 85 targets. Even with Moore out of the picture, Odunze will still face competition for targets from 2025 draft picks Luther Burden and Colston Loveland, the latter of whom is recovering from a concussion. Loveland had 82 targets in the 2025 regular season, while Burden had 60.
