Kimani Vidal

23-Year-Old Running BackRB
Los Angeles Chargers
2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 2024 sixth-round pick, Vidal joins a Chargers backfield with minimal experience beyond ex-Ravens Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. The rookie out of Troy has traits that should appeal to new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman, as Vidal was tough to bring down in college and took 297 carries for 1,661 yards and 14 TDs last season alone. He's not especially elusive, but he showed potential in the passing game with at least 18 receptions in each of his four seasons at Troy, and he earned praise from both coaches and scouts for his pass blocking. Vidal's combination of bulk (5-8, 213) and speed (4.46 40) makes him far more interesting for fantasy than a typical sixth-round pick, especially within the context of a Chargers offense that's looking to run the ball more often despite having a shaky group of veteran RBs. Minimal production in Week 8
RBLos Angeles Chargers
October 29, 2024
Vidal rushed six times for 16 yards in Sunday's 26-8 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Vidal played just 11 of the Chargers 66 offensive snaps Sunday, while starter J.K. Dobbins handled the majority of snaps (54) at running back against the Saints. Vidal has totaled just 13 rushes for 37 yards in three games, operating as the Chargers No. 2 back with Gus Edwards (ankle) on injured reserve. Edwards could return in Week 10, though there has been no update on whether he'll be ready by then. With that said, Vidal holds little fantasy value at this stage, especially with Edwards potentially returning soon. The rookie would need an injury to Dobbins to gain fantasy relevance going forward. Vidal and the Chargers will visit the Browns in Week 9.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could see action sans Edwards
RBLos Angeles Chargers
October 12, 2024
Vidal, who has yet to be active for a regular-season game, should suit up for Sunday's game against the Broncos due to Gus Edwards being placed on injured reserve Saturday with an ankle injury, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Vidal managed to beat out Isaiah Spiller for a spot on the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but the former has been a healthy scratch for the first five games of the regular season as the Chargers went with a three-man backfield of Edwards, J.K. Dobbins and Hassan Haskins. With Edwards set to miss at least the next four games, however, Vidal should be in line to make his NFL debut Sunday and could see the field on third-down duties while spelling Dobbins and Haskins. In his senior year at Troy, Vidal turned 297 carries into 1,661 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 18 catches for 201 yards and another score.
