2026 Fantasy Outlook
Lambert-Smith caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown across 10 regular-season games as a rookie, while also adding 418 yards as a kick returner. A 2025 fifth-round pick, he projects for increased opportunities in Year 2 following the departure of veteran WR Keenan Allen, though that will also be to the benefit of 2025 second-rounder Tre’ Harris. Rookie fourth-round pick Brenen Thompson adds further competition for the No. 3 role behind Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston. Lambert-Smith may need injuries ahead of him to see meaningful snaps in 2026, but he has the speed and athletic traits to produce with QB Justin Herbert if given the chance. Read Past Outlooks

Drilling during OTAs
Lambert-Smith (hamstring) is participating during the Chargers' OTAs, Eric Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Lambert-Smith played in only 10 games during his rookie season last year, in part because he was tending to a lingering hamstring injury. The Chargers' only big move at wide receiver during the offseason was selecting Brenen Thompson in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and Lambert-Smith is one of a few players working on returning punts during offseason workouts, so now that he's back to full strength, he should have a realistic chance of snagging a spot on the 53-man roster for this season.

The Chargers are betting on one of Tre Harris, Quentin Johnston or Lambert-Smith to emerge as their preferred outside target for the long term. While the former options have significant draft capital attached to their resume, the rookie fifth-round pick was arguably as productive as his more highly-drafted teammates last year at Auburn, compiling 50 receptions for 981 yards and eight touchdowns in an offense that otherwise struggled to move the ball through the air consistently. At 6-1, Lambert-Smith has some loud athletic tools, including a 4.37 40-yard dash at the Combine, that make him an intriguing candidate to monitor throughout training camp.

Impressive consistency for rookie
Lambert-Smith, whom the Chargers selected out of Auburn in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, has impressed with his athleticism and highlight catches during training camp and the Hall of Fame Game, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rhim notes Lambert-Smith has particularly stood out for his ability to adjust and track the football in the air. Lambert-Smith has proven particularly reliable for a Day 3 rookie, and thanks to the Chargers' participation in the Hall of Fame Game, the Auburn product has also already proven himself in game action with two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Lions in that contest.
