Kaden Wetjen

24-Year-Old Wide ReceiverWR
2026 Fantasy Outlook
It's highly unusual to see a player drafted in the fourth round (121st overall) after barely playing offense or defense in college. Wetjen was a return specialist at Iowa, housing four punts and two kickoffs in three seasons, with averages of 17.7 and 27.5 yards, respectively. That's strong enough work to warrant a draft pick, and perhaps even a mid-round selection in a weak class, but there shouldn't be much expectation of developing offensive value. Wetjen isn't tiny, at 5-foot-10, 193, but he also isn't a burner (4.47 40 at the 2026 Combine) and never had any luck cracking Iowa's WR rotation beyond a gadget role (23 career catches, 23 carries). The Steelers figure to give him a look in the slot, but they'll probably want Wetjen to focus on special teams first and foremost. Read Past Outlooks

Picked by Pittsburgh

The Steelers selected Wetjen in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 121st overall.
ANALYSIS
Wetjen (5-foot-9, 193 pounds) will have his arrival in Pittsburgh's wide receiver corps overshadowed by rookie second-round pick Germie Bernard, which is reasonable given the former's undersized frame and lack of top-end speed (4.47 40-yard dash). While Wetjen could provide competition for depth wideouts Ben Skowronek and A.T. Perry this offseason, his best odds of contributing as a rookie will be in the return game, as he led the FBS with an average of 26.8 yards per punt return in his 2025 season at Iowa, returning three punts (as well as one kickoff) for touchdowns. It will be a surprise if Wetjen doesn't challenge Donte Kent (ankle) for the top punt returner gig immediately.

Not showing much on offense
WRPittsburgh Steelers
June 28, 2026
Wetjen was buried deep down the wide receiver depth chart during spring practices, according to Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers drafted Wetjen in the fourth round out of Iowa primarily for his capabilities as a return man, but Pittsburgh's coaching staff may envision a role for Wetjen as a gadget player on offense as well. Wetjen hasn't gotten many opportunities on offense thus far, and he appears to be no higher than sixth on Pittsburgh's wide receiver depth chart, behind DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman, Roman Wilson, Germie Bernard and Ben Skowronek.
