J.K. Dobbins

The 'Size of the fight in the dog' saying rarely ever applied more than in the case of Dobbins, who's fairly well-built at around 5-foot-10, 212, yet runs with the belief that he's something more like 250 pounds. Derrick Henry can do that because he's actually around 250 pounds, but with Dobbins there seems to be the trend of wearing himself thin through complete self-disregard. That fiery temperament makes Dobbins one of the most ferocious runners in the league, and he's probably a better receiver than his miserable pass-catching numbers in Denver would otherwise lead you to believe. Despite his considerable talent, there has yet to occur a case in the NFL where Dobbins approached his level of production from Ohio State. He's still mostly that same guy, but between durability issues and workload competition, Dobbins doesn't seem to have a ceiling beyond RB2 or FLEX status for fantasy. The Broncos drafted RJ Harvey in the second round last year and Jonah Coleman in the fourth round this year, creating tough competition for targets and goal-line touches out of the backfield. This combination of limited upside and heightened injury risk makes Dobbins a bench option rather than a projected fantasy starter in most formats, though he projects as a Week 1 starter for the Broncos.
