2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Egbuka had an unusual rookie season, recording five of his six TDs and 47.4 percent of his yardage within the first five weeks. He had one more big game, Week 10 at New England, before finishing out the year with no TDs and fewer than 11 PPR points in eight straight contests. Egbuka even lost playing time over the final 3-4 weeks, once Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan were healthy. Before that, it was poor efficiency (not a lack of volume) that crushed Egbuka's production. From Week 6 to Week 15, he averaged 8.8 targets and 53.6 snaps, yet scored just one TD while producing 3.7 catches for 47.2 yards. His league-high-tying nine drops didn't help, but a banged-up Baker Mayfield and overmatched OC Josh Grizzard also played roles, with Tampa Bay's other playmakers simultaneously failing to meet expectations. Grizzard is gone now, replaced by former Falcons coordinator Zac Robinson, while Evans is off to San Francisco and leaves a 6-foot-5 hole to fill in Tampa's offense. Egbuka, last year's 19th overall draft pick, may only be 6-foot-1, but he should get every chance to take over as the long-term No. 1 receiver. If Egbuka isn't up to the task, Mayfield will have to lean on Chris Godwin and McMillan, both looking to rebound from injury-plagued 2025 campaigns. Read Past Outlooks

Will focus on Z receiver spot
New Bucs OC Zac Robinson said Tuesday that Egbuka will focus on the Z receiver position in 2026 after moving around the formation as a rookie last season, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin missing a combined 17 regular-season games to injuries last season, Egbuka was forced into multiple roles as a rookie. Godwin split time between the slot and out wide on his 428 offensive snaps, but he figures to play mostly a slot role in three-wide sets under Robinson, who talked up third-round rookie Ted Hurst (6-foot-4, 206 pounds) as a prototypical X receiver Tuesday. After Egbuka got off to a hot start last season, he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 and dealt with the issue for multiple weeks despite not missing a contest. Full health and a dedicated position should help him return to form in his second campaign.

For his long-term projection, Egbuka did well to land in Tampa Bay with the 19th overall pick, joining a franchise with a solid quarterback and a strong recent track record of success and production. Egbuka's Year 1 fantasy projection is also on the up and up, with Chris Godwin (ankle) missing all of training camp and Jalen McMillan (neck) expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season. Like his new teammates in Tampa's talented WR room, Egbuka is no burner, having run a 4.45 40 at his pro day after averaging 14.0 yards per catch on a school-record 205 receptions at Ohio State, where he played more than two-thirds of his snaps from the slot. At 6-foot-1, 202, Egbuka won't necessarily be limited to the slot in the NFL, potentially offering inside-out versatility (like Godwin). Reports from training camp had been glowing even before Godwin's prolonged absence and McMillan's injury gave Egbuka a clearer path to the No. 2 WR role in Week 1.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Buccaneers' WR1?
Following the departure of Mike Evans to the 49ers, Ben Solak of ESPN.com argues that Egbuka, not Chris Godwin, is the Buccaneers' top wideout on the roster.
ANALYSIS
Egbuka got off to a terrific start to his rookie campaign, catching 25 passes on 338 targets for 445 yards and five touchdowns over the first five games of the 2025 regular season. A hamstring injury in Week 6 mitigated his effectiveness the rest of the season, but Egbuka still stepped up in a big way, especially when Evans missed time due to a broken collarbone and concussion. Godwin has his own injury history and turned 30 in February, and with Jalen McMillan, Ted Hurst and Tez Johnson set to battle for offensive snaps in OTAs and minicamp, Solak believes that Egbuka as the Buccaneers' Z-receiver will be Baker Mayfield's go-to target on offense in 2026.
