SuperDraft Review

SuperDraft Review

This article is part of our DFS Football 101 series.

With the variety of sites littering the DFS landscape, it can be difficult to separate yourself and present something that is unique and enjoyable. SuperDraft is a site that is gaining popularity daily, and the primary reason is that it achieves that elusive combination.

SuperDraft offers you contests in the usual variety of sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc.) in all of the usual formats (Head-to-Head, GPPs, DoubleUps, etc).  But lineup construction is where SuperDraft begins to differentiate itself. Instead of the common fixed salary cap format found on other platforms, SuperDraft eliminates salary caps and player salaries.

In place of salaries, players are given a MULTIPLIER.  Here is where things get interesting. In an NFL contest on SuperDraft, elite players like Christian McCaffrey or Patrick Mahomes get no multiplier at all (1X).  You're essentially depending on them to get to a big score on their own merit. Conversely, a guy like Michael Gallup or a low-rated QB like Josh Rosen can get a multiplier as high as 2x - DOUBLE their score. While the absence of pricing makes lineup construction exponentially more liberating, this format adds an entirely different strategy where you are building based on risk management over position quality.  See screenshots aside and below from a contest  I recently cashed in for an example of the format.

As you can see from my lineup, I elected to mix high risk/reward picks with high multipliers and a few solid anchors that had comparatively low multipliers to take a more balanced approach.  In these multiplier formats, you basically have to take a dive and look for value spots where you can. While Dalvin Cook disappointed as my anchor, I assumed Brandon Allen would need a security blanket at tight end so I slotted in Noah Fant, who got me a touchdown with a 1.85 multiplier.  Jaylen Samuels (1.85X) is a great example of how the multiplier can help you when a backup fills in for an injured player.

In terms of the UX experience, the site is sleek and easy to use in both desktop and mobile formats, and it's remarkably easy to navigate.  In fact, I think it does a better job of contest organization than most of their competitors, but that's more a matter of personal preference. To help new users play around with strategic approaches on SuperDraft, we've recently added the site to our NFL and NBA Lineup Optimizer tools.
