This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.
This week, I will provide some easily research tips, guess at the highest owned players this week and provide some picks for week 12.
The Impact of Weather
On Sunday morning, I always take a quick look at RotoWire's NFL Weather Report.
For me, the weather is not a major factor when selecting my players. However, it should be considered when the weather is very extreme, if it 's snowing, very rainy or windy.
Weather can really impact kickers. You shouldn't select kickers in bad conditions. The kicker position is already such a crapshoot, so weather does play a large role in my selection. I love kickers that are playing in domes because you don't have to worry about the weather at all.
If I'm close on two different quarterbacks or receivers, I like to use weather as a tiebreaker, but not as a deal breaker. Inclement weather may actually boost some running backs, if the weather is too bad for passing. Also, if the weather is extreme, as it likely would have been in Buffalo this week prior to the game being moved to Monday in Detroit, the team defenses in the game can become much better plays than they would normally be.
Week 12 Projected Highest Owned Players
QB – Andrew Luck ($10,300)
RB – DeMarco Murray ($9,000), Isaiah Crowell ($5,500)
WR – Kenny Stills ($5,900), Josh Gordon ($7,800), T.Y. Hilton ($8,500)
TE – Coby Fleener ($5,400)*Highest Owned in Week 12
K – Brandon McManus ($4,500)
D – Philadelphia Eagles ($5,100)
Week 12 GPP Plays – Low Ownership Players
QB – Drew Brees ($9,000)
RB – Shane Vereen ($6,500), Ryan Mathews ($6,400)
WR – Keenan Allen ($6,500), Justin Hunter ($5,300), Julio Jones ($8,000)
TE – Vernon Davis ($5,000)
K – Phil Dawson ($5,100)
D – Houston Texans ($5,100)
Week 12 Value Play of the Week
Wes Welker ($5,800) – Emmanuel Sanders (concussion) and Julius Thomas (ankle) are both questionable this week. If one or both cannot go, Welker becomes the No. 2 option in a very explosive offense and a great value. Because Welker has been so terrible this year, he will not be highly owned, even if he is in a great position this week because of injuries to his teammates.
Week 12 Stud of the Week
Jimmy Graham ($7,500) – Graham really disappointed last week with only three catches and 29 yards. I expect him to bounce back this week in a must-win game at home. His price is a little depressed, so jump on him at a decent value.
