This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.
The key to performing well in large Guaranteed Price Pool (GPP) tournaments on FanDuel is identifying which players will perform well and not be highly owned. Going hand-in-hand with that approach, you should fade players that are highly owned, and it certainly helps if these highly owned players put together bad performances. Projecting player ownership can be difficult; however, FanDuel runs tournaments on Thursday with lineups that lock through the rest of the week. Using player ownership percentages in the Thursday NFL Bomb is a very good indicator of what to expect in the Sunday GPP's.
Below, each position has a table with players' salaries, RotoWire's Week 6 Rankings, ownership percentages and a graph showing the distribution of ownership by salary.
Quarterbacks
Eli Manning will be the highest owned quarterback for the second week in a row, followed by his big brother Peyton Manning and Matt Ryan. Aaron Rodgers looks like a good play at only 3.3% owned and our third-ranked quarterback this week.
Running Backs
Rashad Jennings and Donald Brown were the two highest owned running backs and players overall at close to 40-percent owned last week. Branden Oliver will be the highest owned running back and player this week at again close to 40 percent. I know Oliver is tempting, but I would recommend to fading him in GPP's. Ben Tate looks like a great value at a relatively low ownership percentage.
Wide Receivers
Golden Tate will be the highest owned wide receiver this week. I'm not suggesting to totally fade him, as he is a great value at $6,400, but don't use him in every GPP lineup. The top two wide receivers this week, Demaryius Thomas and Julio Jones, will also be highly owned.
Tight Ends
Rob Gronkowski's ownership increased a lot from last week, but he will still be under-owned. He is a great upside play in GPP's. Jordan Cameron at 1.6 percent owned is also a nice GPP play. Martellus Bennett will be the most owned tight end in Week 6.
Kickers
I hate kickers so much. Brandon McManus looks like a good play, but they are kickers, so who knows.
Defenses
Take advantage of the Seahawks at home at only 5.1 percent owned and at the fourth highest salary.
