Waiting on support allows you to construct a strong lineup of top-level players in other roles. Supports score the lowest amount of points compared to other roles, and therefore you really only need one on your roster. I take my support in the final two rounds, just before my team, and only carry one each week on my roster. There is one tier of five players for the support role. That's because I think there are five players reliable every week no matter their matchups. If you miss out by waiting until the later rounds, play the matchups week to week and pick up a support in a favorable situation for the week. Inevitably there will be a team that surprises, and their support could be a good pickup.Tier 1 (in alphabetical order): aphromoo, Biofrost, Chei, mithy, Smoothie
Player | Team | Points Per Game* | Kills | Deaths | Assists |
aphromoo | Counter Logic Gaming | 11.60 | 28 | 117 | 343 |
Biofrost | Team SoloMid | 17.71 | 27 | 55 | 431 |
Chei | H2K | N/A | 12 | 86 | 207 |
mithy | G2 eSports | 16.37 | 26 | 63 | 347 |
Smoothie | Cloud9 | 16.97 | 13 | 52 | 279 |

Mithy, Chei, Biofrost, and Smoothie play on what look to be the four best teams in the LCS. Whether or not they end up that way is another question, but each makes a reliable pick that you should be able to play no matter the matchup. Again, I wait on support until late, so they may all be gone before you get to pick. No big deal; if you construct your roster the way I do you'll have two elite mid laners, AD carries, and either a strong jungle or top lane by the time you pick your support.
CLG should bounce back from a rough split, but even if they don't, aphromoo makes a good pick as his game knowledge is unrivaled. He is a smart player who often makes plays happen for CLG and deserves to be in this top tier of players. Even in a down split for CLG, he still picked up 343 assists.
If you miss out on this group, play the matchups week to week as I said. Upside players I like a lot are Xpecial, Mikyx, Adrian and Hachani.
Team Rankings:
Team should be the last pick in your draft. Others will spend up early on TSM- and G2-type teams, but you can work the matchups week to week and get much better players in other roles by avoiding taking a team early. Here are my top ten teams for fantasy purposes heading into the new split:
Team SoloMid
G2 eSports
H2K
Cloud 9
Splyce
Unicorns of Love
Immortals
Dignitas
Team Liquid
Vitality
The top four teams should be considered elite --- meaning if you follow my strategy you'll likely not have an opportunity to draft any of them, as others will take them before the end of the draft. The list is very fluid; pay attention to matchups and hot streaks and pick up a team in a good situation as they develop.
