Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Wednesday should be a fun night in the NBA with 10 games on the schedule. That leaves us with a bevy of options to choose from in DFS, so let's try to narrow down the field for you. Here are some players to consider for your lineups, as well as a few to potentially avoid.

GUARDS

Immanuel Quickley, NY at CHI ($17): Quickley logged a season-high 30 minutes when these two teams met Monday, continuing a recent of trend of increased playing time for him. He certainly didn't do anything to earn fewer minutes in their rematch, posting 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists. With at least 32.7 Yahoo points in four of his last five games, Quickley is an extremely appealing option.

Theo Maledon, OKC vs. HOU ($11): Maledon has started each of the last four games and is primed to hold onto that role moving forward with George Hill (thumb) out for at least the next four weeks. To further complicate matters, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (knee) has been ruled out for this game, leaving the Thunder without their top scoring option. Playing time and shot attempts likely won't be difficult for Maldeon to come by, so he could provide significant value at near the minimum salary.

Guard to Avoid

Seth Curry, PHI at CHA ($16): Make no mistake about it, Curry is on the Sixers to shoot three's at will. The problem is that he's run into a bit of a shooting slumping, posting a 31.3 percent field-goal rate over the last four games. Going back even further, he's scored 24.1 Yahoo points or fewer in each of his last six contests. We have plenty of options on this busy slate, so taking a chance on Curry coming out of his slump in this game seems unnecessary.

FORWARDS

DeMar DeRozan, SA vs. MIN ($30): The Spurs will be shorthanded for this game with LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) out. While his production is down this season, he's still averaging 14.1 points a game, so there will be added scoring opportunities for others on the team. DeRozan already has an extremely high floor and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him gain a few of those extra shot attempts. That could be big against a Timberwolves team that has the eighth-worst defensive rating in the league.

Jae'Sean Tate, HOU at OKC ($11): When the Rockets blew out the Thunder on Monday, Tate logged 23 minutes, posting 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. This game has the potential to get out of hand early again, which could afford Tate with plenty of minutes. The Rockets will also be down a couple of players with John Wall (rest) and David Nwaba (ankle) out.

Forward to Avoid

Otto Porter Jr., CHI vs. NY ($16): In an effort to try and keep the oft-injured Porter healthy, the Bulls have moved him to a bench role this season. On top of that, he's only averaged 23 minutes a night. That's really hurt his production, evident by the fact that he hasn't even reached double figures in the scoring column in five of his last eight games.

CENTERS

Bam Adebayo, MIA vs. WAS ($39): This is an ideal matchup for Adebayo considering the Wizards have played at the fastest pace in the league and have the second-worst defensive rating. They have also allowed the sixth-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers. There is the concern that the Heat could jump out to a big lead early, which would likely mean added time on the bench for Adebayo in the fourth quarter. Still, he could be the key reason why they would have built a big league, so don't be scared away from adding him to your entry.

Thaddeus Young, CHI vs. NY ($19): The absence of Wendell Carter Jr. (quadriceps) has proven to be a big win for Young's fantasy value. He's logged at least 29 minutes in three straight games, averaging 12.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 9.3 assists and one steal. His salary is climbing, but he could still provide excellent value given his recent production.

Center to Avoid

Mitchell Robinson, NY at CHI ($19): Robinson is slumping right now, averaging 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over his last five games. The problem is that he only averaged 26 minutes a night during that stretch, which is down from his season average of 29 minutes a game. Nerlens Noel has been playing well off the bench, so the Knicks do have other options on nights when Robinson is struggling. Given how well Young is playing and the fact that he has the same salary, there's no need to take a chance on Robinson.
