Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Get ready for plenty of action in the NBA on Wednesday with 10 games on the schedule. There are a ton of options to sift through on Yahoo, as a result, so let's get right to it and highlight some players to target and avoid as you create your entry.

GUARDS

Bradley Beal, WAS at NO ($32): These two teams just faced each other Saturday in a contest where Beal excelled with 47.2 Yahoo points. Despite all the turmoil in Washington, Beal has scored at least 42.1 Yahoo points in three of his last four games. He's averaging over 22 points per game for the third straight season to go along with 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, one steal and 1.2 blocks a night, leaving him with a high floor once again Wednesday.

Jordan Clarkson, CLE at OKC ($13): Clarkson laid an egg with 7.4 Yahoo points Monday against the Timberwolves. That snapped a streak of four straight games with at least 21.6 Yahoo points. He only attempted five shots, which is very rare for him considering his 28.6 percent usage rate. His price was lowered by a couple of dollars, setting up a nice opportunity to possibly deploy him in tournament play.

Guard to Avoid

J.J. Redick, PHI vs. NY ($20): Redick has always been counted on to shoot from behind the arc during his tenure in the league and he's averaging a career-high 7.9 three-point attempts per game this season. The problem is he's only shooting 35.3 percent on those shots, which would be the lowest mark of his career. His contributions outside of the scoring column are limited, leaving him to score 24.8 Yahoo points or fewer in four of his last six contests.

FORWARDS

Otto Porter Jr., WAS at NO ($24): Porter is starting to heat up with at least 33.2 Yahoo points in four straight games. It's no coincidence that he logged at least 32 minutes in each of those contests. Part of his poor production has been due to limited time on the court, so his numbers could take off if this trend sticks. With the Pelicans and Wizards both in the top-six in the league in pace of play, Porter could provide significant dividends at this reasonable price.

Markieff Morris, WAS at NO ($16): The Wizards have already ruled out Dwight Howard (lower body), marking the fifth straight game that he will miss. Morris has been one of the beneficiaries of his absence, scoring at least 32.5 Yahoo points in each of his last three contests, including 34.8 Yahoo points against the Pelicans. The Wizards will need his size to deal with the Pelicans big frontcourt, leaving Morris with a fairly high floor considering his price.

Forward to Avoid

Taj Gibson, MIN vs. SA ($17): Gibson's playing time is down this year, especially since the Timberwolves acquired Dario Saric. Gibson doesn't really excel in any one category and only has a 15.8 percent usage rate, so he doesn't have much upside if he's not on the floor a lot. With 19.6 Yahoo points or fewer in four of his last five games, it doesn't make a ton of sense to roll with Gibson when you can add Morris to your lineup for a dollar less.

CENTERS

Enes Kanter, NY at PHI ($25): The Pistons snapped the Knicks three-game winning streak Tuesday, but Kanter stayed hot with 41.8 Yahoo points. Across five games since rejoining the starting five, Kanter has scored at least 41.8 Yahoo points three times. Kanter seems to enjoy playing against Joel Embiid and thrived versus him and the Sixers in four games last year, averaging 19.8 points and 14.8 rebounds per contest. It might be hard to pass up on him at this price.

Richaun Holmes, PHO at LAC ($10): With the Suns going nowhere fast, it made sense for them to cut ties with Tyson Chandler. Deandre Ayton is their center of the future and they had another capable backup already in Holmes. Holmes is starting to heat up with consistent playing time, scoring at least 22.4 Yahoo points in each of his last four games. The Clippers allow the second-most Yahoo points per game (53.9) to opposing centers, bringing Holmes into the discussion for tournament contests.

Center to Avoid

Wendell Carter Jr., CHI at MIL ($18): Carter isn't exactly getting a ton of playing time, logging 26 minutes or fewer in six of his last seven games. It's no surprise that he hasn't scored more than 27.8 Yahoo points in any of those contests. His starting job is certainly secure, but that doesn't mean Carter is a great option in DFS considering his recent lack of production.
