2026 Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Crawford, son of 14-year MLB veteran Carl Crawford, is perhaps the most popular cheap speed flyer for 2026 fantasy drafts. He typically employs a slash-and-dash approach and logged a 59.4 percent groundball rate while hitting 43.3 percent of his balls to the opposite field in 2025 at Triple-A. Unless he's in a favorable count against a righty, Crawford will be looking to get on first base and steal second base -- he pilfered 46 bases on 57 attempts in 112 games last year. So far this approach has worked for the lefty-hitting outfielder, who turned 22 this winter and is not on the 40-man roster. He has steadily been at least 20 percent better than the average hitter in his leagues and is a career .322 hitter with a .385 OBP. Despite plus-plus speed, Crawford isn't a plus defender in center field, so he will need to produce against right-handed pitching to be a valuable real-life player. His .118 ISO at Triple-A was his worst such mark over a full season, but Crawford was the youngest qualified hitter at Triple-A, so his 135 wRC+ is impressive, even if it came with a .407 BABIP and very little power. He will be given a chance to win the starting center field job in spring training. Read Past Outlooks
In line to start in center field
Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Tuesday that the team plans to have Brandon Marsh, Crawford and Adolis Garcia as its primary outfielders in 2026, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
The Phillies officially announced the Garcia signing Tuesday, and Dombrowski intimated that another notable addition to the club's outfield is unlikely. Crawford will still have to show in spring training that he's ready to take over as the Phillies' primary center fielder, but the team is positioning him to be the guy at that position. There are questions about Crawford's defense in center field, but his bat looks ready after he slashed .334/.411/.452 with seven home runs and 46 stolen bases at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 2025 as a 21-year-old.

Crawford will be given a chance to earn the starting role in center field, according to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Analysis
"If you're going to give Crawford an opportunity, you've got to give it to him, and that's where we are," said president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. "We're going to give him an opportunity and have him play a lot." Crawford, who will be 22 at the start of the 2026 regular season, was the Phillies' first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. He spent the 2025 campaign at Triple-A, but it seems the Phillies are more than ready to see if he can play regularly in the majors.
