After a busy Monday, there are only two games scheduled in the NBA for Tuesday. That leaves us with limited options to choose from in DFS. Let's discuss some of the better players to consider, as well as a few to possibly avoid.
GUARDS
Donovan Mitchell, UTA vs. NO ($33): Mitchell is coming off of a down night against the Nuggets in which he only scored 18 points. However, he did somewhat salvage his line with seven assists and he also attempted 20 shots from the field. He's never had a usage rate below 29.1 percent during his career and it currently sits at 31.6 percent this season, which leaves him with a high floor, regardless of his opponent.
Monte Morris, DEN vs. OKC ($12): We're going to need to take some risks in such a limited slate that also consists of several stars. One way to help free up some of your budget is rolling with Morris. He's one of the key members of the Nuggets' second unit, which has helped him score at least 21.2 Yahoo points in five of the last six games. There is the potential that he logs a few extra minutes in this game if the Nuggets race out to a big lead against an inferior foe, so Morris could be worth the risk.
Guard to Avoid
Eric Bledsoe, NO at UTA ($18): Bledsoe scored a season-high 21 points Sunday against the Kings, but don't get too excited. The Kings have allowed the most points per game in the league, so Bledsoe wasn't exactly met with much resistance. Also, he chipped in just one assist, which has been another area of disappointment for him since he is only averaging 3.8 dimes with his new club. This will be a much tougher test against the Jazz, who have allowed the fourth-fewest points per game.
FORWARDS
Zion Williamson, NO at UTA ($35): Williamson is one of the safer forward options for this slate, scoring at least 30.9 Yahoo points in all but two games this season. His playing time has increased significantly from his rookie season and he's one of the Pelicans' leading offensive weapons, posting a 28.8 percent usage rate. Even though his block contributions are underwhelming, he should be able to keep rolling in the points and rebounds departments.
Luguentz Dort, OKC at DEN ($16): Dort absolutely torched the Bulls in a comeback win Friday, scoring 21 points and hitting four three-pointers. He also registered six steals, which is an area that he has shown promise in during his career. His lack of assists and blocks make him a somewhat risky option, but if he can stay hot from behind the arc, he could provide value.
Forward to Avoid
Darius Bazley, OKC at DEN ($19): It's been a rough start in the efficiency department for Bazley given that he is shooting just 37.3 percent from the field. He shot 39.4 percent during his rookie season, so this might continue to be an issue that plagues him. After scoring 24.2 Yahoo points or fewer in five straight games, it might be best to wait for him to show signs of turning things around.
CENTERS
Nikola Jokic, DEN vs. OKC ($53): Yes, Jokic's salary will do a number on your budget. However, he's averaging a robust 57.6 Yahoo points a night, so passing on him during a two-game slate could be a death blow to your entry. Really the only concern here is that the Nuggets race out to an early lead and then give him added time on the bench late in the game.
Isaiah Roby, OKC at DEN ($10): Al Horford (personal) remains away from the Thunder, which means more playing time is likely coming for Roby. Roby has started three games for Horford this season and scored at least 23.3 Yahoo points in each of those contests. At the minimum salary, he might even be someone to consider sliding into your utility spot while also deploying Jokic at center.
Center to Avoid
Rudy Gobert, UTA vs. NO ($31): Avoiding Gobert is more about lineup construction strategy than anything else. He's having another great season, averaging 38.1 Yahoo points a night. However, if you are ok with allocating a significant portion of your budget at center, the choice here is Jokic. If you want to spend elsewhere, then using Roby at center allows you to pay up for the salaries of some of the top guards and forwards.
