Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

Tuesday brings a fairly limited slate in the NBA with just six games. Injuries and resting players continue to be common themes down the stretch, which opens up opportunities for players to be considered in DFS who otherwise might not have much value. Let's examine so options across the price scale to target and avoid for your Yahoo entry.

GUARDS

Eric Bledsoe, MIL vs. LAL ($27): The Bucks are already without Malcolm Brogdon (foot) and now Giannis Antetokounmpo (ankle) is listed as questionable for this matchup against the Lakers. This is the first game of a back-to-back set for the Bucks, so there is a chance they might take the cautious route and sit him. Even if he does play, Bledsoe still has plenty of upside since both of these teams are inside the top-six in pace of play.

Tyus Jones, MIN vs. GS ($13): Jones will once again be asked to shoulder the bulk of the minutes at point guard with Jeff Teague (foot) out and Derrick Rose (elbow) doubtful. Jones flopped in a starting role Sunday against the Rockets, but he had scored at least 27.9 Yahoo points in both of his previous two games. Look for him to provide value in what projects to be a high scoring contest.

Guard to Avoid

Andrew Wiggins, MIN vs. GS ($21): Even without Teague and Rose on the floor, Wiggins has scored 29.8 Yahoo points or fewer in three straight games. Despite his heavy dose of playing time, Wiggins has continued to be an underwhelming option who sometimes looks very passive on offense. Karl-Anthony Towns will shoulder the bulk of the offensive load in this game, which leaves Wiggins with limited scoring upside.

FORWARDS

P.J. Tucker, HOU at ATL ($13): Tucker's 9.5 percent usage rate leaves a lot to be desired, but he at least has a high minutes floor and attempts a lot of three-pointers. He also averages six rebounds and 1.7 steals a game, which has helped him to score at least 20.5 Yahoo points in five of his last eight contests. With the Hawks playing at the second-fastest pace (104.4 possessions per game) in the league, this might be a spot to take a chance on Tucker in tournament play.

Kyle Kuzma, LAL at MIL ($26): With the Lakers running out of healthy players down the stretch, Kuzma has scored at least 30 Yahoo points in three of his last four games. Things will only get worse for the Lakers in this contest with LeBron James (groin) out. These are two of the top-six teams in the league in pace of play, so look for Kuzma to cash in on his expanded role.

Forward to Avoid

Nemanja Bjelica, SAC vs. BKN ($14): When given extended minutes, Bjelica has shown that he can be productive. However, he's only averaged seven rebounds and 5.7 assists across three games since Marvin Bagley returned from injury. The key is he only played 21 minutes a night during that stretch. Don't expect his playing time to increase anytime soon.

CENTERS

Clint Capela, HOU at ATL ($31): Even though Capela hasn't provided any monster stat lines lately, he's been extremely reliable by scoring at least 32.2 Yahoo points in seven straight games. He's certainly controlled the glass, pulling down at least 11 rebounds six times during that stretch. The Hawks have allowed the sixth-most Yahoo points per game (54.5) to opposing centers across their last 10 contests, making Capela a great option at this reasonable price.

Jarrett Allen, BKN at SAC ($19): Allen has taken significant steps forward during his second season in the league and has emerged as an excellent shot blocker with 1.6 rejections across just 27 minutes a game. His limited playing time does put a cap on his ceiling, but he's still at least a threat to approach a double-double on a nightly basis. With the Kings allowing the seventh-most Yahoo points per game (42.1) to centers this season, Allen is an appealing option.

Center to Avoid

Alex Len, ATL vs. HOU ($17): After a five-game stretch as a starter, Len has returned to the second unit for the Hawks' last three contests. He's received inconsistent minutes when coming off the bench this season, which makes him a volatile option. Considering Allen has a much more secure role and is only priced two dollars higher, Len doesn't exactly stand out as a cheap player to take a chance on Tuesday.
