Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

After a loaded Saturday slate, there are only five games in the NBA on Sunday. Four of them will make up the main evening slate on Yahoo, which starts off early at 6:00 PM EST. Here are some players to consider targeting for your lineup, as well as a few to avoid.

GUARDS

Devin Booker, PHO vs. MEM ($34): Booker is rolling right now after scoring at least 41.6 Yahoo points in five straight games. While he's still churning out plenty of assists, the majority of his production has come in the scoring column with at least 32 points in each of those five contests. With the Grizzlies playing at the third-fastest pace and allowing the fourth-most points per game in the league, this represents an excellent spot for Booker to continue his offensive barrage.

De'Anthony Melton, MEM at PHO ($11): Melton had provided a couple of strong offensive performances lately, but that's not his calling card. He's a steals machine, averaging 1.9 of them across his last eight games. His limited role off the bench does somewhat hurt his upside. But with at least 24.5 Yahoo points in four of his last five contests, he's at least worth considering if you need a cheap player to help balance your budget.

Guard to Avoid

Kendrick Nunn, MIA vs. POR ($18): The Heat could be at full strength for the first time in over a month if Justise Winslow (back) - who is listed as questionable - makes his return. Even if he does remain sidelined, the Heat are still the healthiest they have been in a while with Goran Dragic back at full strength. Across seven games since Dragic made his return from injury, Nunn has scored 24.9 Yahoo points or fewer five times. Since he's not overly cheap, this might be a good night to keep him out of your entry.

FORWARDS

Kelly Oubre Jr., PHO vs. MEM ($29): Booker isn't the only member of the Suns who is hot right now. Oubre has scored at least 20 points in each of his last four games, propelling him to a minimum of 45.5 Yahoo points in each of those contests. With Booker playing well and Deandre Ayton also healthy, opposing defenses might not be able to focus on Oubre as much as they were when the Suns were dealing with a limited depth chart earlier in the season. Considering the Grizzlies' defensive deficiencies, Oubre remains extremely appealing at this reasonable price.

Sekou Doumbouya, DET at LAL ($10): With Blake Griffin (knee), Luke Kennard (knee) and Markieff Morris (foot) all unlikely to play, the Pistons will once again be dealing with a light lineup. They decided to add Doumbouya to the rotation for their last two games, even starting him Saturday against the Warriors. He responded with at least 26.2 Yahoo points in back-to-back contests. With no shortage of playing time likely coming for him here in what should be a blowout loss, he could well be worth the risk in tournament play.

Forward to Avoid

Carmelo Anthony, POR at MIA ($22): Anthony has rebounded from a recent slump to score at least 30.2 Yahoo points in each of his last two games. However, it should be noted those were both favorable matchups against the Knicks and Wizards. The Heat maintain a much better defense than either of those squads. With Anthony heavily reliant on his contributions in the scoring column to provide value, he might not end up providing one of his better stat lines.

CENTERS

Deandre Ayton, PHO vs. MEM ($27): Ayton is finally healthy again and moved back into the starting five Friday against the Knicks. He's logged at least 32 minutes in back-to-back games, scoring at least 39.8 Yahoo points both times. His price won't stay this low for too much longer, so take advantage of it while you can - especially against a Grizzlies' team that has allowed the third-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers.

Aron Baynes, PHO vs. MEM ($14): Even with Ayton returning to the starting five Friday, Baynes did not move to the bench. He also didn't see a decline in production, finishing with 20 points, 12 rebounds and one block across 29 minutes. The Suns have been cutting Dario Saric's minutes and Frank Kaminsky (kneecap) is now out indefinitely, so expect Baynes to once again receive plenty of playing time in this contest.

Center to Avoid

Gorgui Dieng, MIN at CLE ($24): Will Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) finally make his return in this game? He's listed as questionable and went through extended shooting drills Saturday, so he at least seems to be trending in the right direction. If he does return, then Dieng would likely shift back to a limited role off the bench. However, even if he remains sidelined, this might not be a great game to deploy Dieng with the Cavaliers playing at the sixth-slowest pace in the league and allowing the 10th-fewest Yahoo points per game to opposing centers.
