We have a streamlined four-game slate Sunday night, making viable value a bit more challenging than usual. Nevertheless, there are multiple options to explore at each position, and one particularly appealing bargain center. Without further delay, let's delve into who offers the right combination of price and upside.
POINT GUARD
J.J. Barea, DAL vs. LAC ($5,900): An ejection in Friday's game against the Lakers limited Barea to just 17 minutes, but he'd scored 29.9 to 39.6 fantasy points in the three previous games. He's also scored 24.5 to 33.1 in three others games over his last nine, solid returns on his current price. The Clippers offer a chance for similar production, considering they've allowed 47.2 fantasy points per game to point guards, including the fifth-most points (24.7) and sixth-most assists (8.7). Los Angeles also brings a fantasy-friendly bump in pace for Dallas, averaging 107.1 possessions per game, eighth in the NBA.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LAC at DAL ($5,400): Gilgeous-Alexander has thrived in recent contests, scoring 22.9 to 41 fantasy points in five of his last six. Those are solid-to-excellent returns on his price, which has largely remained stagnant despite his strong production. The rookie is often checking off every box on the stat sheet, and he's now shooting a solid 46.7 percent. The Mavericks come in allowing 46.5 fantasy points per game to point guards, including the fourth-most assists (9.1) and third-most steals (2.3) per game to ones, furthering Gilgeous-Alexander's case.
SHOOTING GUARD
Dwyane Wade, MIA vs. UTA ($5,700): Wade has seemed rejuvenated since returning from an extended paternity leave, as he's scored 22.8 to 50 fantasy points in the last four games. The future Hall of Famer has encouragingly logged at least 24 minutes in each of those contests and has scored 18 to 35 points in the last three. The Jazz have been the stingiest team in the NBA in terms of allowing fantasy points to shooting guards, but Utah has notably yielded the eighth-highest three-point percentage (36.2) in the league. In turn, Wade is sporting a career-best 39.3 percent success rate from distance on an average of a career-high 4.0 three-point attempts per contest.
Avery Bradley, LAC at DAL ($3,500): Bradley remains priced at bare minimum, despite finally showing some signs of life in multiple games recently. The veteran two-guard has scored 23.8 to 28.6 fantasy points in three of the past four games, and he's shot at least 60.0 percent in two of those contests. The Mavericks come in yielding 41.6 fantasy points per game to two-guards, including the second-most points (26.0) and fourth-most steals (1.7). Bradley appears to finally be finding his shooting stroke, and the fact Dallas allows the third-highest success rate from the field (46.8) to two-guards could certainly help extend his recent improvement.
SMALL FORWARD
Kyle Anderson, MEM at PHI ($5,700): Anderson has been filling out the stat sheet in trademark fashion, scoring over 20 fantasy points in 13 straight games. The fifth-year wing is averaging career highs in rebounds (6.4) and assists (2.9) and faces a Sixers squad that's allowing 39.7 fantasy points per game to small forwards, a number that's partly the byproduct of Philadelphia allowing the fourth-most rebounds (9.4) to threes. Anderson's price remains reasonable for his consistent production, making him a cash or GPP play that offers a combination of safe floor and savings.
Jae Crowder, UTA at MIA ($4,500): Crowder is coming off an impressive 34.9 fantasy-point tally against the Hornets on Friday night, and he'd scored 21.1 to 32 fantasy points in five of the prior six games as well. The veteran is logging plenty of minutes behind Derrick Favors, averaging 28.8 per contest while also sporting an 18.6 percent usage rate that actually ranks behind only two Utah starters. The Heat have allowed 44.8 fantasy points per game to power forwards -- and 49.4 percent shooting – furthering Crowder's case.
POWER FORWARD
Al-Farouq Aminu, POR at SA ($4,700): Aminu is a steady rebounder who's also capable of the occasional scoring outburst, as most recently evidenced versus the Nuggets on Friday. The veteran big went off for a season-high 20 points, leading to 31.9 fantasy points. Aminu has also eclipsed 20 fantasy points on eight occasions and has hit 30 or more in five other contests, providing a glimpse at his upside. The Spurs have been struggling all over the court on defense, and they've allowed 45.1 fantasy points per contest to power forwards, along with the fifth-most points (23.2) and the highest shooting percentage (53.7) to the position.
Dwight Powell, DAL vs. LAC ($3,700): Powell is priced nearly at minimum, but he possesses more upside than a player usually found in his price range. The young big scored 27.4 fantasy points over just 16 minutes in his most recent contest on Friday against the Lakers, and he's scored 20.1 to 30 fantasy points in six other games as well. The Clippers allow 45.2 fantasy points per game to power forwards, along with the fourth-most steals (1.8) and 47.2 percent shooting. Los Angeles also allows the eight-most points in the paint per game (50.3) – including 51.1 per road contest – while Powell is logging 62.4 percent of his scoring in that area of the floor.
CENTER
Bam Adebayo, MIA vs. UTA ($4,600): Adebayo has enjoyed some explosive performances in recent games, pushing his fantasy-point average to a solid 21.2 in the process. The second-year center generated 50.7 fantasy points three games ago versus the Raptors, and he's scored 20.6 to 33.6 fantasy points in the four other games over his last five. That sample partly consists of a trio double-digit rebounding efforts, including two double-doubles. Adebayo should be able to avoid Rudy Gobert a good portion of the time while coming off the bench, and it's also worth noting that Utah comes in allowing a robust 55.4 fantasy points per game to centers, including the most assists (5.3), third-most steals (1.8) to the position.
