FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Picks

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

We've got a full schedule on Wednesday with 14 games and a lot of players to choose from. Make sure to check in on any minor injuries or routine rest days before finalizing your lineups. Below are some players who should provide good value on Wednesday. Good Luck.

Pitcher:

Johnny Cueto, $10,600 - Cueto is yet to record a win due to a lack of run support and a shaky bullpen, however, he enters today's game with a 2.14 ERA over 21 innings pitched. He struck out 24 batters over that span and he's got a juicy matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee on Wednesday. The Brewers will be missing their top of the order guys, in Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy who are both out due to injury. Take those guys away from an already struggling lineup, and you have the perfect matchup for an All-Star pitcher from a year ago.

Cole Hamels, $9,800 - Although Hamels was roughed up in two of his first three starts, he still holds a 1.17 WHIP and averaged exactly one strikeout per inning pitched over those three outings. Hamels has been one of the most consistent pitchers over the last four years, and we like him to bounce back against a 3-11 Marlins team that is struggling to score runs. Hamels takes the mound at home in what should be his best matchup so far.

Catcher:

Martin Maldonado, $2,200 - Maldonado steps in for an injured Jonathan Lucroy and it looks like he'll be the guy until Lucroy returns. He made the most of his opportunity on Tuesday as he hit a monster home run to deep left center at Miller Park. He's known as a guy with a ton of power from gap to gap, and at a price tag as low as his, he can provide solid temporary value. Hitting at Miller Park always helps.

First Base:

Prince Fielder, $3,600 - Fielder enters Wednesday's game having recorded a hit in seven of his last eight games. He also hit his first home run of the year which was a good sign. Fielder has been smashing the ball and hitting for a good average, so more long balls should come. Fielder gets a matchup with young right-hander Archie Bradley of the Diamondbacks on Wednesday who's been solid up to this point. Fielder destroys righties though, and today should be no different.

Second Base:

Dee Gordon, $4,000 - It's really hard to get away from Gordon at this position as he shows no signs of slowing down. He had two more hits on Tuesday to bring his average up to .390. He also stole another base which brings his total to seven on the year. Steals count for two points and with the way Gordon is getting on base, he's providing exceptional value on a regular basis. He'll see Hamels on Wednesday which poses as a tough matchup, but if he can find ways on base, he's tough to match.

Shortstop:

Jean Segura, $2,900 - Segura had two hits on Tuesday and scored a pair of runs in a Brewer's loss to the Reds. He's now batting .308 on the year and is starting to look like the Jean Segura of two years ago when he made the All-Star team. Segura provides good speed and he's a threat to steal a base every time he gets on. He's also batting at the top of the lineup while Carlos Gomez is out due to injury, which should allow him to score more runs. His price tag is almost half that of the top shortstop. Although he has a tough matchup against Johnny Cueto on Wednesday, he still can provide great value at $2,900.

Third Base:

Todd Frazier, $3,500 - Frazier went 2-4 on Tuesday with three runs scored and four RBI's against the Brewers. He recorded his fourth home run of the season and he hasn't slowed down a bit following a career year in 2014. Frazier will be at hitter friendly Miller Park again on Wednesday and he'll face off against the Brewer's young number five starter in Jimmy Nelson. He should put up solid numbers once again.

Outfield:

Jorge Soler, $3,900 - Soler has been on an absolute tear as of late. After recording four hits in five at-bats on Monday, Soler followed it up with two more hits on Tuesday. Soler enters Wednesday with a .327 average, two long balls and nine RBI. A matchup with Vance Worley and the Pirates will allow Soler to continue this hot hitting.

Hanley Ramirez, $4,000 - Ramirez has had a nice transition over to his new team in Boston, and he's seen his power numbers rise so far which could be due to the short porch in left field at Fenway. Ramirez has five home runs in just 52 at-bats to go along with 12 RBI and nine runs scored. Boston plays Tampa Bay on Wednesday who will start youngster Nathan Karns. Karns got roughed up in his first two starts, so Ramirez might be in for a big day.

Brett Gardner, $3,500 -Gardner has clearly been the Yankees best player up to this point. He's batting .308 with 11 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Gardner was nursing a wrist injury as of last week, but he played over the weekend, and looks to be back to full strength. Although the Yankees get David Price and the Tigers on Wednesday, Gardner can still provide good value in relation to his current price tag of $3,500.
