Darren Raddysh

30-Year-Old DefensemanD
Toronto Maple Leafs
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Raddysh broke out offensively in 2025-26, compiling 22 goals and 48 assists across 73 regular-season games. He was productive on Tampa Bay's top power-play unit, chipping in 10 goals and 26 points. He also provided 212 shots on net, 69 blocked shots, 67 hits and a plus-21 rating. He ranked second among all blueliners with six game-winners. After comfortably surpassing his previous bests of six goals and 37 points across 73 regular-season appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, Raddysh is a bit of a gamble for 2026-27. Still, he possesses plenty of offensive upside and could be a solid choice for fantasy managers if he finds himself in the right situations again. Read Past Outlooks

Moved in sign-and-trade deal
DToronto Maple Leafs
June 19, 2026
Raddysh was traded to the Maple Leafs from the Lightning on Friday in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and agreed to terms on an eight-year, $68 million contract, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Raddysh was expected to hit the free-agent market July 1, so the fact that the Lightning were able to get at least something on the trade market feels like a win. The 30-year-old blueliner is coming off a career year in Tampa this season, racking up 22 goals and 48 assists, including 25 power-play points, in 73 regular-season contests. With Toronto, Raddysh figures to slot into the top pairing in addition to linking up with the No. 1 power-play unit.

Raddysh put together a career season last year, registering six goals, 31 assists and a plus-9 rating in 73 regular-season games. The journey for the undrafted blueliner hasn’t been easy, but he has become a legitimate top-four defenseman with the Lightning. He wasn’t a big physical presence, finishing with 38 hits and 68 blocked shots in 2024-25 after the prior season in which he recorded 75 and 105, respectively, but he took major strides on offense. He saw consistent time on the power play, posting nine points while averaging 1:47 per game in that situation. Now in the last year of a two-year, $1.95 million contract, the 29-year-old will enter 2025-26 motivated with the chance to reach free agency for the first time in his career. Raddysh has gotten consistently better each season, so don’t rule out a 40-point campaign if he continues on his upward trajectory.
Raddysh was never drafted by an NHL franchise and had to spend five campaigns in the AHL before getting his first taste of NHL action during his sixth pro season. Even then, Raddysh didn't become a full-time player until 2023-24 at the age of 27 (he's now 28). It's a feel-good story about how perseverance can pay off, and unlike other late bloomers, he even provides a decent amount of fantasy value. While the Canadian defenseman isn't going to be headlining squads, his six goals and 33 points in 82 outings last season is still noteworthy, and with his position on the top pairing alongside Victor Hedman seemingly secure, Raddysh should provide 30-40 points in 2024-25.
The OHL Defenseman of the Year in 2016-17, Raddysh joined the Tampa Bay lineup in mid-March and was a regular for the club the rest of the season and into the playoffs. His offensive production was minimal (one goal, three points in 17 games), but the entirety of Raddysh's prior NHL experience was just four games back in 2021-22. The 27-year-old appears to be battling with youngster Haydn Fleury and veterans Zach Bogosian and Calvin De Haan for two spots in the Lightning's Opening Night lineup this fall.
Raddysh demonstrated some offensive aptitude with 28 points in 62 games with AHL Hartford last season, but the 24-year-old Toronto native's only realistic path to playing time with the Rangers this season involves multiple injuries to the team's current defense corps. Even if he somehow snuck onto the third pairing, Raddysh likely wouldn't provide enough value to be worth consideration in fantasy.

Raddysh has stepped up in the AHL this season.
ANALYSIS
Raddysh has eight goals and 29 points in 20 AHL contests this season. That puts him in second place in the AHL scoring race and first among defensemen. He finished the 2021-22 campaign with seven goals and 25 points in 61 AHL contests. The 26-year-old also played in four games with Tampa Bay last season, but Raddysh averaged just 10:40 of ice time.
