2025 Fantasy Outlook
Gvardiol was arguably one of City's best players in their letdown of a 2024/25 campaign, starting 36 matches while serving between left-back and center-back, depending on where he was needed by Pep Guardiola. His two-way ability was once again on full display as he led the left flank, advancing at any chance he could to help the attack, earning him five goals despite the defender tag. He's unlikely to take a step down from this level in a system that fits perfectly to his game, though following the addition of Rayan Ait-Nouri, it does seem like he'll play more as a center-back going forward, which could lead to less time on the ball around the opponent's box.
Set for big role defensively
Gvardiol should be a key defensive piece for Croatia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
ANALYSIS
Gvardiol was limited to just four appearances (two starts) since the beginning of January after missing multiple months due to a fracture, but the defender is expected to be healthy for the World Cup. Gvardiol can be deployed both at center-back or left-back, but he's likely to anchor the defense of the Balkan side alongside either Luka Vuskovic or Duje Caleta-Car. Gvardiol could also be a threat in set-piece situations, so he's one of the players to keep close tabs on in the Croatian squad from a fantasy perspective.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
City offer new contract
Manchester City have offered Gvardiol a new contract in recent days, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports.
ANALYSIS
Gvardiol has two years left on his current contract at the Etihad Stadium, so this looks like the perfect time to extend him. It's unclear what might happen this summer with the Croatia defender, but he'll either sign a new deal or push to join Real Madrid. Los Blancos are keen on signing another defender who can anchor the defense on a long-term basis.
