Snaps brief losing streak
FeatherweightUFC
June 20, 2026
Rodriguez defeated Hyder Amil via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:43 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It goes in the books as Rodriguez's second submission with the UFC, but the truth of the matter is it was entirely the result of C-Rod landing one of the most perfect head kicks you will ever see. After an uneventful first few minutes, Christian went upstairs and Amil crumbled. The latter then shot a single-leg takedown out of desperation, allowing Rodriguez to clamp on the guillotine which closed the show. The win snaps a brief two-fight losing streak for the Milwaukee native and should ensure his roster spot is safe for the foreseeable future.

Will face Hyder Amil
FeatherweightUFC
April 13, 2026
Rodriguez will face Hyder Amil in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 119 on June 20, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez is looking to deliver a bounce-back performance after he lost against Andre Fili via split decision the last time out. This will be his first event of 2026, and he needs a good result after losing three of his last four fights. He was a sizable favorite at (-250) the last time out, so all things considered, it's hard to trust him right now.
Comes up short against Fili
FeatherweightUFC
August 10, 2025
Rodriguez lost to Andre Fili via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27) at UFC Vegas 109 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez finished swinging and even bested Fili in the significant striking numbers in all three rounds, but this outcome was never in doubt despite the "split decision" result. Fili worked behind his jab to land the more damaging shots throughout, and Rodriguez was visibly wearing the damage by Round 2. Even in the third, Rodriguez seemed to know he needed a finish, but his final push wasn't enough. Rodriguez was a decent-sized betting favorite at (-250), but he'll walk away with his third loss in his last four trips to the Octagon.
Will face Andre Fili
FeatherweightUFC
June 20, 2025
Rodriguez will face Andre Fili in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 109 on Aug. 9, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez lost to Melquizael Costa via unanimous decision in his most recent bout on March 29, and he'll face another opponent who also lost to Costa the last time out he stepped into the octagon. Rodriguez has dropped three of his last four fights, and it's hard to project how he'll do against Fili, another inconsistent fighter in his own right.
Inconsistent ways continue
FeatherweightUFC
March 29, 2025
Rodriguez lost to Melquizael Costa via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez fought much better than the "unanimous decision" label would lead you to believe, but it was still a disappointing effort considering he was coming off of a win over a legitimate top prospect in Austin Bashi in January. You usually win a 15-minute decision when you are able to land six takedowns for 6:48 worth of control time, but Rodriguez simply wasn't able to do enough offensively over the course of the first 10 minutes to steal either frame in the eyes of the judges. His solid Round 3 proved to not be enough. Rodriguez was gifted a split decision win over Isaac Dulgarian about a year ago, and he's gone on to lose two of three since. He could easily be looking at a 1-3 mark in his last four bouts without some help.
Draws Costa in Mexico
FeatherweightUFC
February 27, 2025
Rodriguez will take on Melquizael Costa in a featherweight matchup at UFC Mexico on March 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez has won five of his last six fights, most recently taking a unanimous decision from a highly-regarded prospect in Austin Bashi back in January. His opponent is also in the midst of a hot run, sporting back-to-back submission victories after finishing Andre Fili in the first round only one month prior to this scheduled event. Rodriguez has superior wrestling marks here, but Costa is a dangerous opponent to be rolling on the mat with. The striking marks, both offensive and defensive, land slightly in the favor of Costa.
