2026 Fantasy Outlook
Stevenson has struggled with fumbles for most of his career and is probably lucky he didn't land on the bench after dropping the ball twice in Week 3 and a third time in Week 5, which at the time gave him 10 fumbles in a 20-game span. Luckily and to Stevenson's credit, he wouldn't fumble again the rest of the 2025 season and by the end of the year had largely reestablished himself as a viable NFL starter. It would have been easy for Stevenson to stay down on the mat, especially with competition as talented as TreVeyon Henderson closing in, yet going into 2026 Stevenson is technically the incumbent starter over Henderson. The issue is that Stevenson's depth chart advantage over Henderson might be tenuous -- a prospect of Henderson's caliber won't be a backup forever, and at the very least Stevenson will need to continue to outplay Henderson to maintain the workload share Stevenson earned in 2025. Despite his big build and strong power-back skill set, Stevenson also faces a workload concern for the fact of his accumulating injury history after missing some time in each of the past three years with toe, foot and ankle issues at various points. There exists a possible scenario where the Patriots run often and well enough for Stevenson and Henderson to coexist as fantasy starters, but that path is probably narrow and the more likely one is a workload split where at least one of the two risks getting marginalized in the week in question. Catches late TD in Super Bowl 60
Stevenson rushed the ball seven times for 23 yards in Sunday's 29-13 loss to the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX. He added five receptions (on five targets) for 40 yards and a touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Stevenson began the game as a key part of New England's game plan, though the team's inability to maintain drives limited his impact. All seven of his carries came in the first half, and the majority of his production as a pass catcher came with the Patriots down by multiple scores. The highlights of Stevenson's performance were a long reception of 13 yards and a seven-yard touchdown grab just before the two-minute warning. Stevenson fended off TreVeyon Henderson as the lead back in 2025, though Stevenson may lose a bit more of his volume, as the duo projects to split the Patriots backfield again in 2026.

Last year was supposed to be when Stevenson took a dominant lead in the New England backfield, as the Patriots gave the 2021 fourth-round pick a four-year, $36 million extension before the start of the season. It was a massive disappointment when Stevenson endured the worst season of his NFL career. It wasn't all truly awful -- 3.9 YPC was a decent enough average given the dysfunctional state of New England's offensive line -- but Stevenson's seven fumbles were a ghastly number. The Patriots toyed with benching him multiple times, eventually pulling the trigger in Week 17 (two touches) and Week 18 (zero snaps). Fumbling has been an off-and-on issue for Stevenson in the NFL, with seven on 620 touches before 2024, so even on his extended contract he won't have job security under Mike Vrabel's new coaching staff. That's even more so the case after the Patriots took TreVeyon Henderson with the 38th pick in this year's draft, giving Stevenson stiff competition for the lead backfield role. Stevenson otherwise has excellent fantasy upside, at least theoretically, due to his combination of size, balance and passing-down viability, which allows him to stay on the field in all situations and handle both goal-line carries and dump-off targets. If he gets it together, Stevenson can be part of the story of how the Patriots offense rebuilt itself. If not, he'll quickly become a forgotten man in a Henderson-led backfield.

ANALYSIS
Stevenson was ruled out Wednesday, as the short turnaround from Week 10 to Week 11 proved to be too much for the running back's recovery curve. The Patriots were also likely encouraged by the fact there's a more-than-capable replacement in rookie TreVeyon Henderson, who recorded a career-high 147 rushing yards against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
