2026 Fantasy Outlook
Rice played just 12 games over the past two seasons, held back by an LCL tear in 2024 and then a suspension and a concussion in 2025. He's been a WR1 for fantasy when available, averaging 17.9 PPR points and 8.9 targets over those 12 games. Prior to that, Rice had a big run to close out his 2023 rookie season, averaging 16.3 PPR points and 8.5 targets over his final 11 appearances (including playoffs). The big question, then, is whether Rice can stay healthy and unsuspended, because there's not much doubt he'll see a steady flow of short passes whenever available. To that end, his ADP shot up in April when the NFL announced a conclusion to its investigation into domestic violence accusations. The frequency of Rice's off-field problems raises concern about heightened suspension risk in general, but it sounds like nothing will come of his most recent situation. The Chiefs, however, are looking at even bigger question marks than the usual Rice-related dramas, with Patrick Mahomes rehabbing an ACL tear after missing the playoffs. Rice's lack of downfield production (four career catches 20-plus yards downfield) could eventually make him vulnerable to changes in team context, but for now he's still with Mahomes and Andy Reid, playing in an offense that has modest competition for targets and a long history of elevated pass volume. Not facing league discipline
The NFL announced Friday that Rice (concussion) "has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy," and the wide receiver won't face discipline as a result, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Rice's 2025 campaign ended after Week 15 due to a concussion, capping him to a 53-571-5 line on 78 targets in eight regular-season appearances. In the meantime, allegations from his former girlfriend arose on Jan. 7, which was another in a series of off-the-field issues for the three-year pro, according to Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com. After looking into the matter, the league won't levy any sort of punishment on Rice, citing "insufficient evidence," per NFL PR rep Brian McCarthy. Due to his production through three seasons, Rice is poised to be the Chiefs' No. 1 WR in 2026, but his rookie contract is up afterward, and how the team proceeds in this year's draft could be telling for his future in Kansas City for 2027 and beyond.

Rice looks like a smash success of a second-round pick (55th overall in 2023) despite running into major obstacles already. His off-field issues were one of the big NFL stories of the 2024 offseason, and he then suffered a season-ending LCL tear Week 4. In between, he took a step forward from his fantastic rookie season, catching 24 passes (for 288 yards and two TDs) over the first three games of 2024. His role and production from late 2023 into early 2024 hint at WR1 fantasy potential, especially in full-PPR leagues, although he may have a hard time earning downfield targets in an offense that has speed demons Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown. Rice ran a 4.51 40 (at 6-foot-1, 204 pounds) at the 2023 Combine, albeit with a 41-inch vertical and 128-inch broad jump hinting at explosiveness beyond what his straight-line speed suggests. His career 4.7 aDOT is TE-like, but Rice's excellent work after the catch (8.4 YAC average) has led to a WR-like 11.9 yards per reception, and his 78.6 percent catch rate is right around the positional average for RBs. A best-case scenario for his future looks something like what Michael Thomas did in New Orleans. Rice returned healthy for the start of Kansas City's OTAs, but he then settled his legal case in July and accepted a six-game NFL suspension in August, ruling him out for Weeks 1-6. He should be a high-end fantasy starter, potentially even WR1 level, once he returns from suspension Week 7.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No league discipline forthcoming
Rice, whose 2025 season ended in Week 15 due to a concussion, will not face any league discipline related to recent accusations from his former girlfriend, and the NFL considers its investigation into the matter closed, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The league stated that Rice "has not engaged in conduct that violates the personal conduct policy," citing "insufficient evidence" to support a finding that he'd run afoul of the league's rules of conduct. Rice's ex-girlfriend Dacoda Jones made allegations of long-term physical abuse against the Chiefs receiver earlier this offseason and has filed a civil lawsuit in Texas seeking more than $1 million.
