2024 Fantasy Outlook
Hurts isn’t necessarily a prolific passer -- 13th in TDs last season, 14th in yards -- but the Tush Push cheat code makes him an easy fantasy bet. After ranking third among QBs in 2022 fantasy scoring, Hurts moved up to second last season behind 15 rushing touchdowns, an NFL record for QBs later tied by Josh Allen. Hurts led quarterbacks with 16 goal-line carries and scored 11 touchdowns on QB sneaks. The Tush Push also keeps drives alive. Hurts converted 24 of 27 QB sneaks on third-and-short and fourth down last season, giving him more fantasy opportunities. Passing wise, Hurts completed 65.4 percent of attempts even as his average target depth jumped to 8.7, fourth deepest in the league. His YPA dropped from 8.0 to 7.2, because he was a little less accurate on attempts of 20-plus yards and his receivers didn’t gobble up as many yards after the catch. In 2022, 50.8 percent of Hurts’ yards came via YAC, compared to only 44.9 percent last season. That might matter for the Eagles, but in fantasy it's of little concern given his three straight seasons with double-digit rushing TDs and more than 600 yards. The addition of running back Saquon Barkley likely will sap some goal-line carries, and center Jason Kelce’s retirement is a consideration (he was the tip of the Tush Push spear), but penciling in Hurts for double-digit rushing scores isn’t wish-casting. As long as his rushing production remains strong, Hurts has a shot at finishing as the top fantasy QB even if his passing never reaches higher levels. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Rushing TD in Week 11 win
Hurts completed 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and rushed 10 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 26-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Hurts often found the going tough against an improving Commanders defense, and he went without a touchdown pass for the first time since Week 3. However, the star signal-caller was able to lean on Saquon Barkley and his defense as the second half unfolded while also contributing a go-ahead one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. All but two of Hurts' completions went to the familiar quartet of A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Barkley and Dallas Goedert, and he steered clear of interceptions for the sixth time in the last seven contests. Hurts now will have extra time to ready himself for a favorable Week 12 Sunday night road matchup against the Rams on Nov. 24.

A MVP-caliber season and a run to the Super Bowl were perhaps surprising, but Hurts finishing as the No. 3 fantasy quarterback last year should not have been shocking. He made tremendous strides with his arm between Years 1 and 2 as a starter, and he'd always been a threat with his legs. A.J. Brown joined DeVonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert to help Hurts become one of the NFL's best passers. He led the league in on-target percentage (80.5) and completion percentage (72.5) from the pocket and finished second in TD/INT ratio at 20/4. Overall, his completion rate increased by more than five points to 66.5 percent (it was 52.9 as a rookie in 2020), his six interceptions were second fewest among QBs with at least 350 attempts and he finished third in YPA (8.0). Hurts’ running game gives him a solid fantasy floor -- he led the league in designed runs by a quarterback last season and was fourth in scramble yards. While nearly 40 percent of those designed runs were QB sneaks, 14 came at the goal line, which helped him score 13 rushing TDs, second most in NFL history by a quarterback. It’s possible Hurts’ goal-line attempts regress, but the league decided against outlawing the Eagles’ infamous “tush push" and longer-distance scores are also in play after back-to-back seasons with more than 750 rushing yards. Given that rushing production, Hurts can challenge for QB1 status even if he isn't quite on Patrick Mahomes' level as a passer and isn't likely to match Josh Allen's total volume.

Dealing with ankle issue
Hurts has apparently been dealing with a mild ankle injury for a couple of weeks, and the issue was the primary cause of Wednesday's absence from practice, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hurts' Wednesday absence was officially attributed to rest, but head coach Nick Sirianni noted Friday it was because Hurts was "dealing with the ankle." Hurts was a full participant both Thursday and Friday, and a source informed McManus that Hurts was able to throw the football Wednesday during the team's walkthrough practice but was simply prevented from dropping and planting during individual periods.
