Ehlinger joined the Broncos this offseason, signing a one-year deal after spending his first four seasons in Indianapolis. Drafted by the Colts in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Texas product failed to see the field last season while operating as the Colts' emergency third quarterback in several contests. The 27-year-old Texas product is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, perhaps finding a home with a team in need of quarterback depth if the Broncos don't choose to extend an offer ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Despite starting three games in 2022 and ostensibly being in the mix to be a starter or backup last summer, Ehlinger appeared in just one game for the Colts last season. His low usage even took place despite the early season-ending shoulder injury to starter Anthony Richardson. Ehlinger is a clear No. 3 quarterback with the Colts signing Joe Flacco to back up Richardson this season. Ehlinger may not make the 53-man roster since NFL rules this season allow you to activate a third QB from the practice squad. Either way, it would like take several injuries until the Colts gave Ehlinger substantial playing time again.
