Match details

Series: Bangladesh Tri Series 2019

Venue: Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram

Date: September 18, 2019

Time: 06:00 p.m. IST

Preview:

After winning the first match against Zimbabwe, the hosts will be heading into this second encounter at Chattogram to fight among themselves to make it to the final after losing to Afghanistan convincingly.

After facing an embarrassing defeat against Afghanistan, Bangladesh has made a host of changes in their squad bringing back experienced paceman Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam along with experienced opener Nazmul Hossain Shanto by dropping Soumya Sarkar for their third and fourth match after his repeated flops with the bat.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, lost both their matches and the upcoming game will be important if they want to make it to the finals and they are out of the finals with a loss. However, lower-order batsmen like Ryan Burl and Regis Chakabva have contributed well for the team but, the top-order failed to score runs in this series.

Weather report: The conditions will be partly cloudy with around 28 degrees Celsius however, rain is not expected so, we can expect a full game.

Pitch report: Chattogram pitch gives some assistance to the batsmen around 140-150 score can be expected; however, this venue hasn't hosted a T20I match here since March 2014.

Probable Playing XI:

Bangladesh:

After making a lot of changes in their squad we expect some changes to be made in their playing XI. Soumya Sarkar has been dropped from the squad, expect the opening spot to be filled by Nazmul Hossain Shanto while Taijul Islam might make a way for Rubel Hossain.

Predicted XI: Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (WK), Sabbir Rahman, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Afif Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

Zimbabwe:

Zimbabwe should be under tremendous pressure right now after losing both matches with players like Brendan Taylor, Hamilton Masakadza, and Craig Ervine failing to score in top-order. However, Ryan Burl and Regis Chakabva have contributed well in lower-order. The only change we expect is Chris Mpofu coming in for Tony Munyonga.

Predicted XI: Brendan Taylor (WK), Hamilton Masakadza (C), Sean Williams, Timycen Maruma, Kyle Jarvis, Craig Ervine, Tendai Chatara, Ryan Burl, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Neville Madziva, Chris Mpofu

Top Picks:

Wicket-keeper: Brendan Taylor (10 credits)

The explosive T20 batsman smashed a handy 27 from 16 balls at the top of the order last time out however, he hasn't found the runs as he did at the start of the series. Despite this, he remains Zimbabwe's most prolific top-order batsman. He continues to strike well, so runs should possibly not be far away.

Batsman: Afif Hossain (8 credits)

Hossain, who smashed 52 from 26 balls last time against Zimbabwe at the lower-order was one of the most exciting knocks of this series. His contribution gave Bangladesh the platform to stay in this competition. We can expect a similar innings once again.

All-rounder: Shakib Al Hasan (11 credits)

Al Hasan didn't have a great outing with the bat in both matches where he scored just 1 and 15 runs with the bat respectively; however, he took two wickets in the last match which showed signs of a return to form against Afghanistan, on a pitch that had something in it for the spinners. Expect him to have another good day with the bat and ball.

Bowler: Mohammad Saifuddin (8.5 credits)

Arguably Bangladesh's best bowler so far in this series where he picked five wickets in two matches including a four-for last time against Afghanistan. If the conditions are similar to the previous game at this venue, Saifuddin should be able to do some serious damage against the Zimbabwe batsmen.

Captain options: Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin
