The fifth edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) is set to begin in less than a week's time and cricket fans all over the world are eagerly waiting to see the best players showcasing their talent Down Under.
Like every year, we are bringing you a list of five players who are relatively unknown but have the potential to make it big in Australia's premier T20 competition.
Saqib Mahmood (Sydney Sixers)
First in the list features pacer Saqib Mahmood. The England international has become a prominent figure in the world of T20 cricket where he produced the goods for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the Pakistan Super League. In this year's BBL, Mahmood will be representing Sydney Sixers who will be hoping for big things from the right-arm pacer. The 24-year-old has already played 48 T20s in his career where he has managed to claim 59 wickets at an average of 21.56.
Josh Inglis (Perth Scorchers)
Second in the list features wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis. The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the most highly-rated players in the country in white-ball cricket in the recent past which earned him a spot in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup squad as well. Inglis will be representing Perth Scorchers in this year's BBL and it will be interesting to see how he will showcase his talent against Australia's finest. The Yorkshire-born has played 63 T20s in his career where he has managed to score 1,645 runs at an average of 32.90 along with the strike-rate of 151.61, which included two centuries and 11 fifties.
Tanveer Sangha (Sydney Thunder)
Third in the list features young leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha. The 20-year-old is very highly-rated in the cricketing circles in Australia and his franchise Sydney Thunder will be hoping for some big performances from him in the upcoming edition of the BBL. Sangha has played 15 T20Is in his career where he has managed to claim 21 wickets at an average of 18.08, which included his best figures of 4-14.
Unmukt Chand (Melbourne Renegades)
Fourth in the list features right-handed batter Unmukt Chand. The 28-year-old was once rated as the next big thing in Indian cricket but failed to make his mark despite leading the side to a U19 World Cup triumph. Chand, who has already left his native land to play professional cricket elsewhere, will be representing Melbourne Renegades in the upcoming edition of the BBL and it might be an opportunity for him to showcase his real potential. The right-hander has played 77 T20Is in his career where he has managed to score 1,565 runs at an average of 22.35 along with the strike-rate of 116.09, which included three centuries and five fifties.
Joe Clarke (Melbourne Stars)
Last in the list features right-handed Joe Clarke. The 25-year-old is highly-rated in the English cricket circles and has already showcased his talent in the 20-over format for the likes of Perth Scorchers, Worcestershire and Karachi Kings in the past. Clarke will be playing for Melbourne Stars in this year's BBL and he will be hoping to leave his mark on the proceedings. The Shrewsbury-born wicketkeeper-batter has played 93 T20s in his career where he has managed to score 2,353 runs at an average of 28.01 along with the strike-rate of 155.62, which included three centuries and 12 fifties.
