Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The Bucks mounted a comeback on the road to defeat the Suns in Game 5, leaving them one win away from an NBA title. Monday brings Game 6 of the series and another opportunity to play Yahoo's single game contest.

In addition to selecting two flex players, there are three multiplier positions in this single-game format. A player slotted into the Megastar spot will earn double their fantasy points scored. The Superstar spot will earn 1.5X their fantasy points scored. Finally, the Star will earn 1.2X their fantasy points scored. With that in mind, let's discuss some players to consider.

MULTIPIERS

Giannis Antetokounmpo ($55): Giannis should be a lock for one of these multiplier spots. Frankly, it's difficult to make a case for playing him in anything lower than the Superstar spot. He's had a dominating series, averaging 32.2 points, 13.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks. He's also shown no ill-effects from the knee injury that he suffered in the previous round, averaging 39 minutes per game. His ceiling is as high as anyone's in this game, and his floor is arguably the highest.

Khris Middleton ($38): Middleton has been nearly as impressive as Giannis, averaging 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.0 steals against the Suns. He's drained at least three three-pointers in four of the five games and has wreaked havoc with Giannis in the pick-and-roll game. He's logged even more minutes than Giannis, too, averaging 43 per game in this series. That makes him extremely appealing for one of these multiplier spots.

Devin Booker ($34): A key turnover by Booker in the final minute of Game 5 marred any otherwise excellent performance. He scored 40 points on 17-for-33 shooting from the field, marking his second straight game with at least 40 points and the third time in the last four games that he's scored at least 31 points. After averaging 34 minutes per game during the regular season, Booker has logged at least 40 minutes in 10 of his last 13 games in the playoffs. Add his crazy-high usage rate to his extended playing time and Booker could be in line for another big scoring performance.

FLEX PLAYS

Pat Connaughton ($12): The Bucks have gone with basically a three-man bench and Connaughton has been playing the most of that group. He's logged at least 28 minutes in all five games and has played at least 30 minutes in four straight games. That helped him score at least 21.2 Yahoo points three times. Don't expect his role to decline in Game 6.

Bobby Portis ($10): Portis is one of the other three players who has been logging minutes off the bench for the Bucks. He thrives off the energy of the home crowd, which helped him score 21.1 Yahoo points in Game 3. The Suns have also gone with a short bench, which makes the stars from both teams extremely appealing. In order to roll with three big-names in the multiplier spots, taking a chance on Portis at the minimum salary might not only be necessary, but could turn out to be profitable.

PLAYER TO AVOID

Brook Lopez ($18): The Bucks have had success playing small, often deploying Giannis at the five. That's resulted in Lopez logging 23 minutes or fewer in three of the five games. Given his already limited role in the Bucks' offense, Lopez has scored 17.2 Yahoo points in each of the last three games. With that in mind, it's difficult to justify taking a chance on him since his salary also doesn't come at much of a discount, either.
