Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Basketball: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Basketball series.

The top seeds in their respective conferences will take the floor Tuesday, making for an exciting night of playoff action. The Bucks will be looking to rebound from a disappointing loss in Game 1 while the Warriors will try to take a 2-0 lead before their series shifts to Houston. We have a lot of the top talent in the league in action, so let's discuss some players to target and avoid for your Yahoo entry.

GUARDS

Kyrie Irving, BOS at MIL ($41): Irving led the Celtics to an impressive win on the road in Game 1, scoring 46.9 Yahoo points across 33 minutes. He was an efficient 12-for-21 from the field and helped facilitate the offense with 11 assists. If they Celtics are going to pull off the upset, it's going to be on the shoulders of Irving, so expect him to have a high floor throughout this series.

Andre Iguodala, GS vs. HOU ($12): Andrew Bogut originally moved into the starting lineup when DeMarcus Cousins (quadriceps) went down, but Shaun Livingston replaced him for Game 6 of the Warriors' previous series against the Clippers. They made another change for Game 1 against the Rockets by starting Iguodala over Livingston. The end result was Iguodala scoring 23.8 Yahoo points across 34 minutes. The Warriors won, so expect him to start again Tuesday. While he doesn't receive a ton of scoring chances, his expanded role makes him a great option at this cheap price.

Guard to Avoid

Klay Thompson, GS vs. HOU ($24): Thompson was able to play through an ankle injury Sunday, but he scored just 13 points on 5-for-13 shooting from the field. The good news is that he played 41 minutes, so the injury didn't limit his playing time. However, with the majority of his contributions coming in the scoring column, he's still too pricey, especially if his shot has been impacted by his injury.

FORWARDS

Kevin Durant, GS vs. HOU ($42): Durant is the safest option to pay up for. He's shouldered the load for the Warriors offense since Cousins went down, averaging 40.2 points on 24.2 shot attempts per game. He's also averaged 5.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.2 steals during that stretch, so start him with confidence.

Marcus Morris, BOS at MIL ($17): Morris has spent time as both a starter and as a reserve during the regular season and came off of the bench during all four games in the first round against the Pacers. However, the Celtics decided to start him in Game 1 against the Bucks, mainly so he could try and help slow down Giannis Antetokounmpo. While that's a tough defensive assignment, he cashed in on the starting opportunity with nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks. He comes with some risk based on the potential for him to get into foul trouble, but he's still someone to at least consider at this reasonable price.

Forward to Avoid

Jayson Tatum, BOS at MIL ($25): Tatum came up small in Game 1 with just four points on 2-for-7 shooting from the field. He did record six rebounds and three blocks, but the efficiency and lack of shot attempts are concerning. If you're looking for someone in this price range, Draymond Green ($29) is a much more appealing option with Cousins out.

CENTERS

Al Horford, BOS at MIL ($25): Horford carried over his success against the Bucks during the regular season with an impressive performance in Game 1, scoring 49.7 Yahoo points, Not only did he provide a juicy double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, but he chipped in on the defensive end with three blocks and a steal. With his ability to contribute in multiple areas, he's the top center option to set your sights on.

Clint Capela, HOU at GS ($25): The only reason Capela makes this list is because the rest of the options at center are not very appealing. He struggled in Game 1 with 14.2 Yahoo points while attempting just two shots from the field. Draymond Green is an excellent defender, so scoring might be hard for Capela to come by in this series. Really the only reason to select Capela over Horford is if you're looking for a contrarian play in a GPP.

Center to Avoid

Brook Lopez, MIL vs. BOS ($21): While Horford thrived against the Bucks during the regular season, the Celtics put the clamps on Lopez. His lack of success against them continued Sunday with Lopez scoring a paltry 8.6 Yahoo points across 26 minutes. Horford isn't that much more expensive, so there's no reason to risk adding Lopez to your entry.
