Sunday's main slate on Yahoo gets off to an early start at 4PM EST, so be ready to get those lineups in early. Despite only six games, there will be no shortage of excellent defensive teams in action - which might lead to some low scoring contests. With that in mind, here are some players to target, as well as a few to avoid, for your entry.
GUARDS
Evan Fournier, ORL vs. GS ($21): The Magic recently received some reinforcements with Aaron Gordon returning from his ankle injury Friday. However, they are still without Nikola Vucevic (ankle), who remains the focal point of their offense. Fournier has been left to pick up the slack, averaging 23 points and 17.5 shot attempts across the four games Vucevic has missed. For comparison, Fournier is averaging 18.4 points and 13.5 shot attempts on the season. With the Warriors allowing the fifth-most points per game in the league, this is a prime opportunity to deploy him at such a reasonable price.
Jordan McRae, WAS at LAC ($10): McRae has already started to see increased playing time, logging at least 20 minutes in five straight games. He's made his added opportunities count, scoring at least 22.6 Yahoo points in four of those contests. McRae's role should be even more secure now with C.J. Miles (wrist) out, making him worth considering at the minimum price.
Guard to Avoid
Alec Burks, GS at ORL ($22): Although the Warriors have been a trainwreck, at least one silver lining has been the play of Burks. He's become one of the focal points of their offense due to all of their injuries, which has enabled him to score at least 42.6 Yahoo points in three of his last six games. The problem here is the Magic have allowed the second-fewest points per game. With Fournier enjoying a much better matchup and priced a dollar cheaper, it might be best to stay away from Burks.
FORWARDS
Anthony Davis, LAL vs. DAL ($52): The only question that ever comes with deploying Davis in DFS is if he'll make it through the night healthy. While he's provided a couple of scares in the early going, he's largely been productive by averaging 52.9 Yahoo points per game. Although Davis will eat up a significant portion of your budget, he promises one of the highest floors available for any of the players on this slate. When he faced the Mavericks earlier this season, he scored 31 points on his way to 54.6 Yahoo points.
Davis Bertans, WAS at LAC ($14): Bertans is coming off of a clunker of a performance against the Lakers in which he only scored 11.6 Yahoo points. The Lakers have been one of the best defensive teams in the league and now he'll have to face another one in the Clippers. However, Bertans does possess a high minutes floor and has looked lethal from behind the arc, so he might not be a bad option in tournament play at such a cheap price.
Forward to Avoid
Draymond Green, GS at ORL ($23): It may only be the first of December, but this already looks like a lost season for Green. Between injuries to his teammates and health issues of his own, his numbers aren't up to par. Green scored 12.4 Yahoo points in a blowout loss to the Heat on Friday, playing only 19 minutes in the process. After the game, Warriors' coach Steven Kerr said he plans to limit him to 27 minutes a night moving forward, which makes him someone to avoid against such a strong defensive team like the Magic.
CENTERS
Steven Adams, OKC at NO ($20): Adams has been battling knee issues, but his average of just 26 minutes a game might also be as a result of Nerlens Noel's improved play. However, Adams is still finding ways to be productive, scoring at least 32.2 Yahoo points in three of his last four games. With the Pelicans playing at the fifth-fastest pace in the league, he has a chance to provide value once again.
Mo Bamba, ORL vs. GS ($11): Although Khem Birch continues to start in place of Vucevic, Bamba has outplayed him by a wide margin. He's provided a nice array of stats, averaging 10.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers since Vucevic went down. The Warriors have allowed the seventh-most Yahoo points per game to opposing centers, leaving Bamba with an excellent opportunity to continue his recent run of success.
Center to Avoid
Willie Cauley-Stein, GS at ORL ($16): While Cauley-Stein isn't overly expensive, his upside isn't great either. He's scored 23.2 Yahoo points or fewer in five straight games, logging 25 minutes or fewer three times. This matchup certainly isn't working in his favor. So if you're looking to go the cheap route at center, it might be best to save five dollars and roll with Bamba instead of Cauley-Stein.
