2026 Fantasy Outlook
An All-Star in 2024 and the Twins' Opening Day starter at second base last season, Castro was flipped to the Cubs at the 2025 trade deadline. His time on the North Side was entirely forgettable, with Castro slashing .170/.245/.240 across 110 plate appearances. He did not log a single at-bat for the Cubs in the postseason. Despite the lackluster finish, Castro reached double-digit homers and double-digit steals for the second consecutive campaign. He made a major impact in the SB category in 2023 when he swiped 33 bags, though that looks like the clear outlier for his career. Now with Colorado on a two-year deal, Castro is a true super-utility man capable of playing most positions on the field. With three-position eligibility (2B, 3B, OF) and just enough power and speed to be useful when plugged in, Castro is in the mix as a potential bench piece in deeper leagues. Read Past Outlooks
On base three times
Castro went 1-for-2 with an RBI, two walks and a run scored Thursday against the Mets.
Analysis
Castro drove in Colorado's first run of the game with a single in the fourth inning and also scored a run four frames later on a grand slam by Jake McCarthy. Castro is riding a modest four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-15 with two runs in that span. Overall, he has had a mediocre start to his time in Colorado, hitting .250 with 14 runs scored and 12 RBI across 106 plate appearances this season.

Castro has turned into an elite utility player becoming the first player to play more than 25 game at five different positions in a season. Castro maintained his improved walk (8.2%) and hard-hit rates (31.4%) and duplicated his 108 wRC+ from 2023. He moved around the diamond filling in for injured players and rest days and played a career-high 158 games. He has above-average speed, but attempted fewer stolen bases (23 vs. 38 in 2023) mostly as the Twins ran less as a team. He offers some power (12 home runs) as well. He won't have a set position again, but should find regular playing time with the Twins.

Analysis
Castro struggled mightily after being traded from the Twins to the Cubs at the deadline, finishing with a .226/.313/.366 batting line with 11 homers and 10 steals over 120 regular-season contests. However, he slashed a solid .250/.335/.398 during his time with the Twins and is a switch hitter who can play all over the field, making him a fit for virtually any roster.
