Rest-of-Season Projections
Joins lineup Saturday
Jimenez (hand) started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Giants.
Analysis
Jimenez was lifted from Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals shortly after being hit on the left hand by a pitch in the second inning, but X-rays came back negative. The 25-year-old felt well enough to enter the lineup Saturday against southpaw Robbie Ray. Jimenez is likely to see limited action while the Marlins' infield is mostly healthy.

2025 Fantasy Outlook
Jimenez opened the season with Triple-A Buffalo where he posted a .847 OPS, fueled by a high .416 OBP. He was summoned in early July, appearing in 63 games over the final three months of the season. There were stretched where Jimenez was the regular shortstop and second baseman. His on base skills didn't translate to the bigs as he fanned almost twice as much while walking half as much as he did in the minors. With limited power, and even less speed, Jimenez needs to get on base to generate any fantasy goodness. He's still just 24 years old, so Jimenez can improve, but he still profiles best as a reserve infielder, capable of playing second base, third base and shortstop. Even so, until he shows he can get on base on a consistent basis, Jimenez isn't even in the AL-only mix.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Added pressure in spring training
Jimenez will face more competition for a reserve spot on Toronto's Opening Day roster after the Blue Jays claimed Ben Cowles off waivers from the Cubs on Wednesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Analysis
Jimenez's path to a spot on the Blue Jays' roster appeared clear after it was announced Feb. 10 that Anthony Santander would miss approximately 5-to-6 months while recovering from left shoulder surgery. Santander's absence means Addison Barger would likely operate in right field to open the season, which opens a depth spot in the infield for Jimenez behind Ernie Clement, Andres Gimenez and Kazuma Okamoto. Cowles has yet to see major-league action since being drafted by the Yankees in the 10th round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft. However, he did spend the entire 2025 season in Triple-A, which makes him direct competition for Jimenez.
