Fulford is a....leg-first catcher? His defensive abilities are all below average, and he did not show much at the plate in 120 plate appearance last season with Colorado, but a 91st percentile sprint speed along with 10 steals in 2024 in Double-A is interesting if you are in a deep two-catcher NL-Only league looking for upside with your last pick or last dollar at the draft table. Hunter Goodman is in no danger of losing his playing time behind the plate as he is easily the more superior of the two catchers both with the bat and behind the dish. Fulford does have options, so he could also be sent back to Triple-A in favor of Drew Romo. Ultimately, your goal is to not have to look at this situation for your second catcher, but if things go awry, Fulford seems to be the options with a modicum of upside in a limited role. The Rockies recalled Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Analysis
He's taking the roster spot vacated by Mickey Moniak (finger). Fulford was beaten out by Brett Sullivan for the No. 2 catcher job in Colorado but will wind up making the Opening Day roster after all. With three catchers available, the Rockies could give Hunter Goodman more time at designated hitter while Moniak is shelved.

A measure of contact quality from Sports Info Solutions. This stat explains what percentage of batted balls were hit hard vs. medium or soft.
Barrels/PA
The percentage of plate appearances where a batter had a batted ball classified as a Barrel. A Barrel is a batted ball with similar exit velocity and launch angle to past ones that led to a minimum .500 batting average and 1.500 slugging percentage.
