When we last saw Ruziboev last May, he was dropping a unanimous decision to Joaquin Buckley, which doesn't seem like a very big deal these days. He got the chance to rebound here against the debuting McConico and took full advantage. Neither man did much of anything in Round 1, but Ruziboev managed to pick up two knockdowns and the stoppage in the 33 seconds which Round 2 lasted. Ruziboev is closing in on 50 professional fights despite the fact he turned just 31 years of age last November. He improves to 3-1 with the UFC.

Ruziboev withdrew from his scheduled fight against Rinat Fakhretdinov at UFC 308 on Oct. 26, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

This was the first time during Ruziboev's brief UFC run that we got a look at him against a quality opponent, and it didn't go great. The main reason for his struggles were the fact he couldn't defend a takedown over the course of the first ten minutes. He allowed Buckley to connect on both of his attempts in both Rounds 1 and 2, and that not only served to limit his chances to hurt Buckley with power shots, but also served to deplete Ruziboev's already questionable gas tank in the process. Toss in the fact this fight was taking place on Buckley's hometown of St. Louis, and Nursulton was up against it from the very start.
